2009 Feb 20 Talking Pints: Friday Night Fever

When I say “hot”, you say “pot” … “hot” … no? OK then. Anyway, tonight (Feb 20) is the first anniversary of Hotpot at Block 8. DJ Wordy will be reunited with DJ Shougo and DJ Lomang for Beijing’s finest booty shaking hip-hop. Word. It’s RMB 60 to get in the door but it gets you a free drink.
Also tonight is the Burton season highlights party at Punk. This starts at 10pm with DJ Lao Si on the decks and it promises to be whatever the snowboarder slang for cool is these days. What’s more it is totally free.
Less free, but no less exciting is the second outing for Paddy O’Shea’s Piddle Your Pants Party. RMB 80 buys you a seat at the open bar but there is a catch – that being that the bar is only open until the first person breaks the seal visiting the bathroom. Grease the weasel, or whatever you call it, before 9pm.
Blue Frog is also getting in on the nightlife action with its first proper DJ night. DLS is on the decks for the first in their series of lounge nights. Wear blue and get a free drink, and if you can get photos of the party published in a magazine they’ll give you 10 free shots. It's free to get in and starts at 10pm.
And finally, remember the Sanlitun drugs bust of last year? Well the seven bar owners found guilty of allowing drug use on their premises aren’t likely to forget as they face sentences of between 12 and 36 months. Just say no, kids.
