2009 Nov 06 Serious Cocktails: De Casa Opens in Lido
The personable folks down at De Casa are serious about their cocktails. Yeah, they deal in beer (Stella, RMB 30; Hoegaarden, RMB 40), have many whiskies and a wide selection of aperitifs, but cocktails are their business.
I opted for a Cuban triumvirate, and why not? The well-mixed Mojito was tangy, the Cuba Libre both crisp and tasty, and the Strawberry Daiquiri sweetly refreshing.
There’s also sangria by the jug (RMB 55) and, of course, tequila (RMB 25). As long as this stylish haunt continues to deliver high-quality, discount cocktails, Beijingers will continue to enjoy this small slice of Latin hospitality in Lido.

Where Musicians Congregate: VA Cafe & Bar

Former Quasimodo member Qi Bin wants VA Cafe to be a place where musicians congregate – jazzy ones in particular.
