2009 Dec 17 Like an Old Friend - Phil’s Pub Returns

Veterans of hazy nights on the old Sanlitun South Street will cheer the rebirth of this former Nanjie stalwart and look forward to catching up with an old friend. Yet the affable owner has not tried to slavishly recreate the past in his new venture.
The insouciance of youth has given way here to the trappings of adulthood in the shape of a bigger place, cozier furniture, questionable decor, better alcohol, and more sophisticated jazz piano music. Phil now serves German brews like Erdinger (RMB 40 for a 500ml bottle) and Zentrums (RMB 30), and mixes exotic cocktails like white chocolate martini (RMB 40) and “China rice martini.” Your old friend even keeps organic wines in his rack (bottles from RMB 190).
“This guy’s changed,” you may think, but while chatting over a few drinks you find you still rather enjoy his company.

Real Irish pubs are run by Irish people and characterized by a good pint, a welcoming atmosphere and maybe a bit of televised sport. While Molly Malone’s isn’t Irish-owned, it is certainly the most Irish Irish pub in Wangfujing.

The duo behind this impressive cocktail and whiskey bar first opened the underrated er. They’re also among the partners at Apothecary. Although Twilight lacks the favorable Sanlitun address, it is wrought from the same creativity and craftsmanship.
Lovingly Blended Medicaments at Apothecary

Like the pharmacists of centuries past, Apothecary trades in potions to soothe your troubles. I didn’t go to university in Russia but the décor of Pyramid fills in some of the blanks. Walls plastered in political cartoons give it a student lodgings feel, which the beanbags and sofas fail to dislodge.
A Spot of England in the CBD: Westside Bar

Westside is, strangely, located in the CBD, so there’s no need for Line 4. I was told it was an English pub and upon seeing the infinity pool-surrounded deck, I felt misled.

has anyone else noticed this or is it just me??
Ian why are you just regurgitating the same post you put up on the 3rd Dec..... cant think of anything else to write about???
Come on at least try, don't let readers down, this is sad if you are just posting the same sh*t again and again just because it may be an advertiser. At least find a new angle...
Just needed to be said.

Pijiu12,
This was particular writeup was posted twice by our automatic blog scheduler by mistake - the author had nothing to do with its recurrence.
Also, Phil's Pub is not a client.
Our apologies for the confusion.

Re: Like an Old Friend - Phil’s Pub Returns
Pijiu12,
Blogs get posted in a queue, and they automatically appear based on a time stamp that is entered in the drupal platform. This particular blog was posted twice around the same time by two different editors who got their signals crossed and didn't realize the other had posted - hence it's not a perfect system.
But rest assured, there's no conspiracy here. Hope you feel better and a new location works out for your restaurant.
