2010 Feb 02 Carve Up the Ice at Workers’ Stadium

Another outdoor ice rink has been added to Beijing’s ever-growing collection of winter playgrounds. Conveniently located at Workers' Stadium East Gate, the 1,248 sq meter open air facility is open daily until 10pm.
You can bring your own skates, or rent a pair for RMB 5 (RMB 100 deposit) in addition to the entry fee. Lockers are also available for RMB 5 (RMB 100 deposit). Ticket prices vary from RMB 50- 30, depending on the time of day. Student ID gets you a RMB 5 discount.
And here’s the best part: there’s an enclosed heated viewing area serving Yanjing (RMB 20) and a range of spirits including Jack Daniels and vodka (RMB 30 per glass or RMB 500 per bottle). They also serve coffee, tea (RMB 10) and hot chocolates (RMB 20). A diverse snack menu includes popcorn (RMB 15), donuts (RMB 10), marble cheesecake (RMB 20) and hot dogs.

For those looking for more physical pursuits, adult ice hockey owns the rink from 8pm on Wednesdays, and at 8pm and 10pm on weekends. Kids get their turn from 3.30 to 5pm on Saturdays.
