Decent Jazz, Over-priced Drinks at Lee Theatre Bar

Run by a Hong Kong team, Lee Theatre Bar is pretty small, but suitably intimate for its weekend jazz shows. Those are the venue’s strongest cards in an area short on decent live music.

Most days feature performers playing popular Chinese tunes, but on Fridays and Saturdays (from 9.30pm) keyboardist Kenny Zh leads a band playing Sinatra numbers and contemporary standards.

Mixed drinks and cocktails are RMB 80 – decide for yourself how you feel about that – and there’s not a sip in the house under RMB 50.

Saturday is the exception to that wallet-draining rule: RMB 200 cracks open a night of all-you-can-drink beer (Tsingtao, Carlsberg and Heineken), or you can order the RMB 300 teppanyaki buffet with free sake and beers from the affiliated restaurant upstairs.
