2010 Feb 20 Blame it on the Boogie: Beijing’s Hottest Clubs

Beijing dance clubs are packed seven days a week – the following is a list of the most popular places in town to shake your thang.
HIP-HOP CLUBS
Vics
Vics’ DJs spin all the top hip-hop, R&B, soul and reggae songs, pulling in a young, raging crowd nearly every night of the week. Don’t miss their Wednesday nights, when ladies drink for free and men swarm for a saucy sweetheart.
Daily 8.30pm-late. Inside the north gate of the Workers’ Stadium (next to Outback Steakhouse), Chaoyang District. (5293 0333) www.vics.com.cn 威克斯, 朝阳区工体北门内
Mix
Located just across the parking lot from Vics, this Gongti club offers pretty much the same deal. The music is radio friendly and the dance floor just as packed, though the patrons tend to be more local.
Daily 8pm-late. Inside the north gate of Workers’ Stadium, Chaoyang District. (6530 2889) mixclub@sohu.com 密克斯, 朝阳区工体北门内
Bling
Positioning itself as a classy hip-hop club, Bling brings it with flashy purple hues and a Rolls Royce DJ booth. This Chaoyang Park area club has no trouble attracting a steady swarm of expats, locals and celebrities alike.
Wed-Sat 9pm-late. Solana 5-1, 6 Chaoyang Gongyuan Lu, Chaoyang District. (5905 6999) www.all-starclub.com 朝阳区朝阳公园路6号蓝色港湾国际商区 5-1

TECHNO & HOUSE
GT Banana
A clubbing haven for those who strictly do techno, house and trance beats – the crowd is young and energetic, spurred on by outra¬geously-clad dancers in cages, world-class DJs and an excellent sound system.
Weekdays 8.30pm-4.30am, weekends 8.30pm-5am. Scitech Hotel, 22 Jianguomenwai Dajie, Chaoyang District. (6528 3636) 朝阳区建国门外大街22号赛特饭店1层
Coco Banana
Located on “Clubbers’ Row” (aka Gongti Xilu), Coco Banana may be smaller than its predeces¬sor (see GT Banana), but it is no less gaudy, popular or wild. Draws a crowd of hedonistic locals with money to burn.
Daily 8.30pm-late. 8 Gongti Xilu, Chaoyang District. (8599 9999) 朝阳区工体西路8号
White Rabbit
To the delight of its faithful patrons, this underground club has reopened at last – setting up camp in the space that once housed the old ChinaDoll in Tongli Studio. Expect an improved selection of cocktails and tapas, but the same fierce electronic music.
Tue-Sat 7pm-late. 2/F, Tongli Studios, Sanlitun Beilu, Chaoyang District. 朝阳区三里屯北路同里2层
Lantern Run by techno collective Acupuncture, Lantern is a studio and workshop by day, club by night. There’s plenty of room to dance, but two bars neatly hem the space, leaving a handy barrier between dance floor and perimeter booths. The low ceilings and scorched-red color scheme add an extra dose of stripped-down intimacy. B1/F, 3.3 Shopping Center, 33 Sanlitun Beilu, Chaoyang District. Bar Blu
Located smack in the middle of Salitun’s bar street, Bar Blu is the ide¬al place for squeezing in some groove time. Even without a cover charge, you still get a dance floor crawling with people and fist-pumping tunes ranging from dance to techno to pop.
Sun-Thu 4pm-2am, Fri-Sat 4pm-4am. 4/F, Tongli Studio, Sanlitun Houjie, Chaoyang District. (6417 4124) 朝阳区三里屯后街同里4层

The World of Suzie Wong Club
Known for its attractive clientele, sprawling dance floors and pump-up house music, this club has remained a Beijing hotspot for over six years now. Suzie Wong consistently wins the “Best Place to Find a Date” in the Beijinger’s Bar & Club awards – enough said.

Thanks for pointing that out - this is obviously an old, out of date list - we've taken out China Doll and replaced with Lantern
