2010 Mar 05 Event Update: Pet Conspiracy March 26 Date Canceled

Just received received word from the people at Yugong Yishan that Pet Conspiracy's March 26 show at the venue has been canceled. At present, the YGYS gig was the band's only confirmed date this month, so it looks like fans may have to wait until April for their next chance to see Helen Feng and her gang in action.
Just to balance things out, YGYS have added a just-confirmed event to their schedule for this month. Berlin jazz singer Michael Schiefel will play the venue on Monday, March 15 (RMB 30, 9pm). As well as receiving acclaim from the German music press for his various albums, Schiefel once held the title of "Germany's youngest music professor," teaching the kids how to sing at Weimar's Franz Lizst Conservatory. For more on Herr Schiefel, see his website.

Talking Pints: DJ Wordy, Win SOS Tickets and Other Weekend Highlights
If you’ve already read our interview with DJ Wordy, you’ll have seen that his CD launch party is at Tango tonight (May 27) – not Yugong Yishan, as originally scheduled and listed in the May issue of the Beijinger. While we’re at it, another reminder that until further notice, Yugong Yishan is closed to allow for “fire safety measures” to be implemented. If you’ve got a copy of the Beijinger’s May and June issues, remember that all events listed as taking place at Yugong may be canceled – call the venue and check our website for clarification of cancellations and rescheduling. One I can confirm right now is that Yuksek’s show, originally scheduled for June 2 at Yugong, has been moved to June 3 and will take place at Tango.Talking Pints: Farewell to Ned's, Happy Birthday 1F and Japan CD Fundraiser
We'll start this week's roundup with a fond farewell to a popular Nanluogu Xiang spot. Ned's is set to close this Friday (April 8), although since the plan is to drink everything left in the bar, they might well go on until Saturday. Then again, they are Aussies ... Don't get your hopes up for a new bar opening in Ned's current location - I've heard the space is to be taken over by a currency exchange.Talking Pints: Fundraisers, RMB 1 Drinks and Get Your Face on a Beer Bottle
First off, not really connected with bars or nightlife, but highly deserving of a mention - Modo and Mosto's charity dinners to raise funds for victims of the Japanese earthquake/tsunami raised a grand total of RMB 39,825, which the restaurants tell us has already been passed on to the UN World Food Programme. Great effort for a night's dining.
