2010 Mar 23 Food Fight - Two Cases of Beer Still Up for Grabs

So far only one user has taken up the challenge to review two of our Restaurant Award winners to score a case of Carlesberg beer. Which means we still have TWO CASES to give away.
Congratulations to wefrucar, who reviewed the winner of Best Italian (Annie’s) and Best Hot Pot (Haidilao).
Here’s what he had to say about Annie’s:
A staple of a Beijing expat's diet
4 stars
“There comes a time when an expat in Beijing thinks, "If I have to eat one more greasy Chinese meal today..." When one just wants to go home, crash, and have something that tastes decent, a bit like home, that isn't too expensive.... and most of all, is easy… Which is why Annie's is on my speed dial.
You can't really say that any of the food at Annie's is particularly excellent - and certainly not authentic! But Annie's has built its reputation on one thing: reliability…”

And here’s his wefrucar’s take on Haidilao:
Best hotpot around.... just remember to make reservations
5 stars
“When I asked my Chinese coworkers for a hotpot recommendation back in the day, they all unanimously responded, ‘Haidilao.’ The food is great, the selection of food is great, the sauce choices are great, and most refreshingly of all, the service is great!...”

We still have TWO CASES OF CARLESBERG BEER to give away to the first two users to post a pair of reviews of our Restaurant Award winners (you can also review those venues that received "Outstanding" mentions). So if you’re happy or horrified with the results, now’s your chance to speak out.
Now FIGHT!!

Kro's Komeback
Kro’s Nest, a Beijing dining institution since 2006 and winner of The Beijinger’s 7th Annual Reader Restaurant Award for “Outstanding Pizza,” has been news since this spring over the legal battle between partner’s Olaf Kristoffer – “Kro” – and Yuan Jie. Kro was ousted from the Kro’s Nest restaurants he helped found, and there were even reports of an assault on Kro, not to mention police involvement and other drama.Beijing’s Best Restaurants: The Beijinger vs City Weekend

Yesterday we compared the results of the Beijinger’s Bar & Clubs Awards with our crosstown rival’s recently announced awards. Today we do the same with restaurants – comparing the results of our reader survey concluded in March and City Weekend’s reader awards announced last week.

Unknown Pleasures: 15 Chinese Restaurants You've Probably Never Heard Of
A city of 40,000 eateries, but so much of it remains uncharted culinary territory. How to discover new gems? How to avoid the imitators? We asked the people who know best: ten local Chinese experts passionate about good eating in Beijing. We asked our experts to each nominate their five favorite hidden or little known restaurants. We visited them (often more than once), ate our fill (often more than was sensible), and settled on these.
