Website Assistant -theBeijinger.com
Do you love being online? Is the net your natural habitat? TheBeijinger.com is recruiting a fulltime Web Assistant to help with the running of Beijing’s premier English-language news and “what’s on” website. This is an ideal position for someone looking for a leg-up into the fast-paced world of online media and social networking.

You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment, assisting with a diverse array of tasks, including moderating forums, laying up the 7 Days newsletter, translating news items and uploading a wide variety of content to the site.

You must be:
-Enthusiastic
-A fast learner
-Proactive
-Able to work quickly and efficiently to achieve good results with minimal supervision
-A native Chinese speaker with highly developed oral and written English-language communication skills.

Essential Criteria:
-A degree in a language, journalism or communications-related field
-Experience in working in an online environment, including experience with website Content Management Systems
-High level English-language writing skills.
-A sound knowledge of the places where expats like to live, work and play in Beijing.
-Familiarity with theBeijinger.com and associated products like The Beijinger magazine.

Deputy Web Editor
-theBeijinger.com Do you get edgy if you’re not online? Do you love blogging? Then we want to hear form you. TheBeijinger.com is recruiting a Deputy Web Editor to assist with the running of Beijing’s premier English-language news and “what’s on” website. You’ll be working both remotely and in our office in a fast-paced multi-lingual environment, researching and blogging about news and events relevant to Beijing’s diverse English-speaking community.

This is a part-time retainer position of 20 hours per week with a high degree of flexibility.

You should be:
-Enthusiastic
-Proactive
-Outgoing
-Able to work quickly and efficiently to achieve good results with minimal supervision
-A native English speaker with highly developed written English-language communication skills.

Essential Criteria:
-A degree in a language, journalism or communications-related field
-Minimum one year experience in online or print journalism
-Ability to proactively seek out stories relevant to our readership
-Experience working with website content management systems
-High level English-language writing abilities
-A sound knowledge of Beijing, particularly the places English-speaking expats like to live, work and play.

Art and Culture Editor - The Beijinger magazine
Do you spend your weekends haunting 798? Is your DVD collection big enough to stock a small store? Do you devour books and novels at an alarming rate? Are you crazy about classical music, stage and dance? True Run Media is looking for an experienced Arts & Culture editor to write, edit and blog about the city's burgeoning A&C scene.

Job Responsibilities include:
- Writing columns, articles, interviews, blogs and reviews and previews for the beijinger magazine and website.
- Recruiting freelancers and commissioning freelance articles for the section.
- Editing copy.
- Expanding contacts in the city's arts and culture fields by regularly attending exhibitions, book talks, cinema and stage events.
- Assigning photos and doing proofing and corrections.
- Participating in issue planning and debriefs.

Qualifications:
- Native-speaker level English
- Experience with print and/or web journalism, editing copy
- Able to meet deadlines with a highly proactive, organized personality
- Ability to verbally communicate in Chinese
- Wide ranging contacts in the local a&c community
- Experience with pagemaker, photoshop and indesign a plus
- Chinese reading ability a plus

Shunyi Correspondent Wanted - BeijingKids magazine
Based up in Shunyi and looking to break out of the daily grind of parenthood? Are you a social butterfly who loves writing and meeting people? BeijingKids is looking for a Shunyi correspondent to join our editorial team. This is a part-time position (about 10-15 hours a week) with a competitive salary that is very well-suited for very energetic parents and does not require constant presence in our office. However, a certain level of commitment is involved. The Shunyi correspondent will be expected to:

* Attend Shunyi community events/meetings on a regular basis (every two weeks, or more frequently depending on what's going on) to increase BeijingKids' presence in the community;
* Make connections, find story ideas and leads, as well as be an advocate for the magazine/website/brand;
* Write 2-3 articles a month for the magazine (Learning, Playing and Feature sections)
* Write 3-4 blog posts a week (300-400 words each);
* Maintain and contribute to the forum on Beijing-Kids.com;
* Assist with identifying Shunyi-related listings errors found on the site;
* Add Shunyi related events to the website on a regular basis;
* Attend meetings and editorial planning sessions in our office at Wanda Plaza in the CBD (once a week on average);
* Attend monthly BeijingKids editorial board lunch meetings.

Native English speakers are a must and conversational Chinese ability preferred. Must be willing to commit at least one year to this position. Please send a CV and cover letter to: editor@beijing-kids.com.
