Beijing Miracle: A Crippled Man Walks!

Christmas is the time for miracles, which makes it only fitting that Beijing is experiencing its own winter wonders. A Chinese blogger has captured the amazing feat of a crippled man miraculously gaining the ability to walk.

The blogger, who refers to himself as Yuan Shengtai, captured what many know to be the reality of some beggars in China. He introduces the incident saying, “Yuan Shengtai was crossing the pedestrian bridge in front of Zhongguancun Building in Haiding when he witnessed an old beggar who lay on the ground pretending to be crippled. When he was photographed and exposed, he twice stood up to yell at Yuan Shengtai.”

Many people know that not all beggars are truly blind or crippled, but it’s unusual to see such hard evidence of the truth. Additional photographs and commentary can be checked out in English on chinaSMACK and in Chinese on the original Sina blog.

While the idea of faking injuries or disabilities for begging outrages some, it seems a better alternative to the practice of deliberately disabling people for the sake of begging, or else using children to beg on behalf of adults.

maybe he did not pretend to be a cripple, but what in your mind was that he wass. that was your imagination. he did not say he was that, did he? so you can do what you can, and dont be too h arsh to those old ones, they dont want to do that if they have a better choice. you can choose to help them or not. it is your call.

Kazumi's a known troll, people.

Please don't feed.

WARNING: China Foreign Teachers' Union (CFTU) is a scam run by a convicted felon. UPDATE: He's now calling it China Teacher's Alliance. Still a scam.

i've seen this guy around before..!! he hangs out with that blind dude that plays that chinese violin over on north Viva..

he's a real no where man.!

@Kazumi~~

What is someone doing IN a Starbucks sofa?! I'd love to see that. That's better than fake cripples.

All the cripples in BJ are scammers, whether or not by their own choice. This is not foreigners' problems but China's. The Communist government can take responsibility for each and every poor person in China.

I do give money to beggars that sing. I applaud their effort.

@kazumi:
if u have so much free time to read this and post, then why not u do something more meaningful while sitting in starbucks. Maybe ur date didnt show up yet and u wanna give money to fake beggars so that they can pray for him to show up, lol...

Lame-ass article. Don't you guys have better things to do than taking photos of beggars? Crippled or not, he's a beggar anyway. What? In your cozy Starbucks sofa you hadn't notice it?

U R misled; these people deserve no respect. They take away from the truly deserving disabled people. Sorry!
