Voting is now open in the Beijinger's 8th Annual Reader Bar & Club Awards! The dust has barely settled on last month's Reader Restaurant Awards and already we're turning our attention towards saluting the best in Beijing nightlife. Voted for by readers and consumers, the Beijinger Reader Bar & Club Awards are the most comprehensive, most prestigious and most trusted accolades in Beijing nightlife.

111 bars have been named across 37 categories covering everything from beer-drinking to late-night clubbing. The shortlists in each category are based on the results of a nomination round in which we asked over 200 nightlife lovers to select their top bars in over 50 categories. Certain categories just didn't work in the nomination round, so we cut 'em.

Two bars from quite different walks of Beijing nightlife, Atmosphere in China World Summit Wing and Mao Mao Chong in humble Banchang Hutong, are tied for the honor of most-nominated bar, with 11 shout-outs apiece. The Stumble Inn and Xiu have 10 nominations each, with First Floor, Apothecary, d lounge, Fubar, Paddy O'Shea's, Punk, Amilal, Centro, El Nido and Mesh also receiving multiple nominations.

This year's awards sees the introduction of new categories like "Best Alternative Lifestyle Venue," "Best Hutong Bar" and "Best Non-Sanlitun Bar." To reflect both the rapidly growing variety of brews on offer in Beijing, and the distinction between drinking bottled and draft beer, we've also split an old favorite - "Best Beer" - into two new categories, "Best Poured Pint of Beer" and "Best Beer Selection." A few categories have been revived this year after being left out of the 2010 voting, among them "Best Decor," "Best Terrace" and "Best Value."

Despite only coming onto the scene in the past 12 months, new venues have performed strongly, with bars like Atmosphere, The House, Great Leap Brewery, El Nido, Mokihi and The Green Cap all picking up nominations alongside stalwarts like Bar Blu, Suzie Wong's, The Den and The Tree.
