2011 Aug 01 Win Tickets! Neon Trees at Tango on Aug 9

Ever since The Killers picked Neon Trees as their support band a few years back, the Utah group have been talked up as the natural successors to Brandon Flowers' group and their brand of emotion-laden rock. Beijingers get a chance to judge for themselves when Neon Trees come to town on August 9 for a gig at Tango. Assuming there are no last-minute problems with the gig, Neon Trees will at least get one over The Killers in the China stakes - many readers will remember The Killers Beijing gig being canceled very late in the day in January 2010. Neon Trees have at least taken the trouble of making this "Hello Beijing!" video, so I suppose they must be keen.

Obviously the news about the Star Live/Tango name change never made it to Utah. Don't they read the Beijinger there? Anyway, tickets for the show are on sale now at the advance price of RMB 180 (it'll be RMB 220 on the door), but we've got a pair of VIP tickets (valued at RMB 380) to give away to readers who can tell us:

In the periodic table, what is the chemical symbol for neon?
Email your answers to win@thebeijinger.com before noon on Tuesday, August 2.

To get yourselves up for the show, check out the Trees playing "Animal" live:

Migas is declaring the summer season to be officially upon us by opening up its much-anticipated expanded terrace to the public this weekend. To mark the occasion, they'll be holding a Terrace Opening party over both Friday and Saturday nights. It's massive, we've been told. Go check it out and let us know, because we do have to work on Saturday. Thanks in advance.
