2011 Dec 12 will.i.am, John Legend and More Stars Gather For Booey Lehoo Concert on Saturday

Hope you're ready for the Booey Lehoo concert. We've talked about this charity event and its shining lineup for a long time and now it's finally going to happen this Saturday. As planned, will.i.am, John Legend and apl.de.ap will bring you a smashing night with help from three Chinese songstresses: Shunzi, Sadingding and Coco Lee.
Here's a video of will.i.am explaining his understanding of the 100,000 Strong Initiative and how he can't wait to come to Beijing.

Haven't got tickets yet? You can get them here or call 400 810 1887.

  • Weekend Live Music Roundup: Hanggai, Shanren, Demerit, will.i.am

These past two years have been a booming time for folk music in Beijing. Maybe it’s because more and more people started to find out how easy it is to just pick up an acoustic guitar and sing a song of sorrow with face full of bitterness. The good part is that the really good bands have actually stood out even more. Take Hanggai and Shanren, these are two quite different yet similar bands, one fuses Mongolian folk tunes with the power of rock, the other mixes folk rock with reggae beats. Both are fun, energetic, interactive and exotic. If you plan it well, you might be able to catch both of them tomorrow night.

  • will.i.am Concert Date Set

The will.i.am concert rumored to be in the works since this summer has finally been set. The show, to benefit and raise awareness for the 100,000 Strong Initiative, will take place on Saturday, December 17. The Black Eyed Peas singer will be joined in Beijing by fellow bandmate apl.de.ap, the Bucky Johnson Band and singer-songwriter John Legend.

As every football fan knows, FC Barcelona were in town over the weekend to play a friendly against Beijing Guo’an at the Bird’s Nest National Stadium, to mark the second anniversary of the opening of the Beijing Olympics. Modern Lei Feng has done a short post about the match, as well as posting some snaps on Flickr.

  • Beijing to Have Worst Theme Park Ever?

The question of what to do with expensive Olympic infrastructure after the games has plagued every host city. The financial tribulations of the Bird's Nest are well-known, and administrators of the site have tried a variety of strategies to lure more visitors, including recently announced plans to open an Olympic-themed restaurant inside the stadium. Similarly, the surrounding Olympic Park has played host to a variety of events since August 2008. Now, in a move that promises to set a new low in China's already impressive array of terrible theme parks, authorities have announced plans to open a “Green Dream Park” to the northeast of the National Stadium.
