The Expats Have Spoken

The latest poll on city life once again puts Beijing on top. Up for grabs this time: recognition as the most attractive Chinese city for foreigners.

The "2011 Amazing China – The Most Attractive Chinese Cities for Foreigners" survey polled expats living in the country and narrowed down the list through several rounds before judging locations on 18 different criteria. Categories were divided into four broad areas including policies, administration, working conditions and living environments. Beijing ranked number one in 15 categories and only fell short in regards to working conditions.

Rounding out the rest of the top ten (in order) were Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Suzhou, Chongqing, Xiamen and Hangzhou.

This latest finding is just another notch in our belt when it comes to our rivalry with Shanghai. Our city’s already been ranked more competitive, more attractive and we recently beat them in sports so it was only a matter of time before expats declared Beijing best.

Great to see those polled got it RIGHT ! I'm from Melbourne,Australia and Beijing feels like home to me. Which says a lot as Melbourne was named Worlds Most Liveble City. Beijing / Shanghai is like Melb / Sydney rivalry and Melbourne wins out every time with Culture, Music, Sports, so it's no different with Beijing over Shanghai haha. Proud to be a Beijinger !!! Go Ducks......
