Talking Pints: Two New Venues and the Return of the Secret Tease Boutique

Plenty of news on the nightlife front this week, better dive straight in.

A couple of new openings:

  • Nian Bar, the latest member of the Huxley family (which includes Huxley's and Nanjie) is open already at 21 Cheniandian Hutong (near Jamaica Me Crazy)
  • Panda Brew Pub is also open. The intrepid Iain Shaw went searching for the tiny spot this week and managed to find it, just. It sounds well worth his perseverance.

Elsewhere, Great Leap Brewing have announced a second Beer For Books event. It will take place on February 2 at Great Leap's own Doujiao Hutong space in support of The Library Project, a charity that donates libraries - including books, furniture and teacher training - to rural elementary schools, orphanages and community centers in China and Vietnam. Each beer purchased between 4 and 10pm will see Great Leap donate RMB 15 to the organization, what a nice bunch.

Stumble Inn dropped us an email to say they will be having an Australia Day party again this year. Saturday January 26 is the date, and they will be playing the Triple J Top 100 Countdown, with 2 Guys & a Pie serving tucker, face painters, and specials on Aussie beer.

Flamme kicked off a cracking midweek deal this past Wednesday: All-You-Can-Drink-Cocktail Wednesdays. RMB 99 gets you as much cocktail action as you can handle between 7.30 and 9.30pm. Given the quality (and strength) of the cocktails over at The Sanlitun Village spot, there'll be little need to try to beat the clock.

Now to a few highlights from this weekend's events:

  • The Tease Boutique is back tonight. The third in the series of conceptual parties. Saturday (January 19) at 10pm will be the next one: "After a teasing church party! 'The Tease Boutique' proudly present their first party of 2013! We can't tell you more!" Very helpful, but that's all we know. I think the idea for these parties is that you have to want it. Go forth and find that party. Entrance is RMB 50.
  • The latest Chimay Pool Tournament is also on Saturday (January 19) at Beer Mania. Remember: eight teams of two players; double elimination; registration fee: RMB 40 per team; prizes for the first three teams; and now a "special" prize for the team that comes in last.

Remember that there are plenty more nightlife events to check out in our events section.

Wherever you get to this weekend, have a great time.
