Fun en Français: Vive la Francophone World Festival

Pop quiz: think of ten French words. Easy, right? Now, think of ten French words, not including any of the following: fromage, hors d'œuvre, voulez-vous coucher avec moi. Yeah, we thought so. Luckily, the Alliance Française is throwing its Francophone World Festival in March, featuring a month full of music, movies, and art that will let you brush up on la belle langue. Here are some of the highlights:

Mars en Folie 2013 - a melodious melange of francophone musicians will play this year's Mars en Folie festival at Yugong Yishan, including French rockers Les Mauvaises Langues, Canadian indie folk from Klô Pelgag, and Swiss reggae (really) by Junior Tshaka. You can check it out on Saturday, March 9, 7pm.

Francophone Film Festival - catch free weekend screenings of films from the French-speaking world at the Alliance Française's BLCU center. Runs Saturdays and Sundays from March 9-March 31.

Contemporary French Literature Conference - Two young French authors, Maylis de Kerangal and Arno Bertina, will be at the Alliance Française Guangcai center to discuss life and literature on Tuesday, March 26, 6:30pm. Free to attend.

Ten Words - This exhibit at the Alliance Française Guangcai center looks at why we love to borrow bon mots and fancy phrases from the French language. The exhibit runs throughout March and is free to check out, 8am-9pm.
