Community Matters: Get Drunk, Get Literate

St. Patrick’s Day and all the festivals underway mean for a lot of workshops and community events happening this week. Let’s get straight to it: This Saturday, Roundabout Charity is holding their biggest downtown book fair to date. And by big, they mean big - two truckloads of reading will be on sale. All proceeds will go the help save a cancer patient.

The St. Patrick’s Day Irish Ball is also this Saturday at the Kerry Hotel. This year’s theme is Stars and Shamrocks: a movie premier in Beijing. Expect a lot of red carpet, rented tuxedos and ballroom glam. Alternatively, head to Slowboat brewery where you can guzzle pints of their St. Paddy’s brew for only RMB 25. The catch, you have to order with an Irish accent.

There are some great literary workshops this weekend as well. On Saturday, Justin Hill will lead a class for aspiring writers where you can learn how to finally get that book idea onto the page. And on Sunday, Sophie Cook will be teaching her tried and tested tips for great travel writing.

Here are few more exciting activities to join this week:
