A warm sentiment indeed on a glorious Friday evening with the promise of a long weekend ahead. I'm so excited about the upcoming three days, that I took back ownership of this column for one week only.

A little bit of housekeeping before getting to the pick of the long weekend's activities:

Beijing Boyce got the skinny on what's happening in that slither of space between Frost and Commix – prepare for BBC (or Bottle, Boot & Cigar) to be moving in sometime in the next couple of weeks. According to Boyce, there'll be a collection of quality spirits and cigars available as well as the chance for a boot shine and a shave for the brave.

You can currently get a glug full of South African wine for a very reasonable RMB 15 per glass between 5pm and 7pm at the Sanlitun outlet of popular eatery Pinotage.

New nightclub 5f seems to have hit the ground running. We haven't had the chance to get by yet, but they're giving us every reason to. This week they announced that trance legends Ferry Corsten and Sander van Doorn will be spinning at The Place late April, early May. We're heading by this week and we'll have a First Glance scouting report for you next week.

So what have you got on this weekend? Plenty to do and a day off work on Monday to celebrate. Here's what we suggest:

Why not kick your weekend off with some laughs? Long Time No See showcases a line-up of local comedy talent at 4corners from 8pm tonight (Apr 4).
Metro Tokyo celebrates its one-year anniversary at Dada from 9pm tonight (Apr 4), welcoming Artur 8 and Max Skiba to preside over the festivities.
Also tonight (Apr 4), the hugely popular Bunker Party series continues, this time at Basement in Sanlitun. The subterranean skirmish gets underway from 10pm and slides right on through to the small hours.
You really are spoilt for choice on this splendid Friday night – there's also the second edition of Blow Yourself Blind featuring DJs PFAC, Donkey Tonk and Vincent Suede at Ink in Sanlitun. The blows start raining down from 10pm, and there'll be two-for-one on all mixers, cocktails and beer until midnight.
If it's not blind that you're looking for tonight (Apr 4) then get morbid instead at Cellar Door's Qingming-themed Dead/Broken/Gone party, promising reduce-priced drinks up until 4.44am.
Saturday afternoon (Apr 5) marks the return of the Annual Chili Cook Off with Great Leap Brewing. RMB 150 gets you 15 chilli samples and the ability to cast an all-important vote. There'll be splashings of Great Leap grog swishing around the Original No.6 location too.
The Brick launches its seasonal cocktail menu on Saturday evening (Apr 5) from 5pm with the official Spring Cocktail Fling launch party. All the aforementioned cocktails will be shifting at Happy Hour prices until midnight.
On Saturday night (Apr 5) there's a night of skwee at Dada with DKSTR joining forces with Floood and Vurado Bokoda as part of the Sound of the Xity fest from 10pm.
Elsewhere, there's a battle to the death (or till the sun comes up) at The Bar at Migas as Dim Sum Disco take on Factory in a Disco vs. House battle. RMB 300 gets you front row tickets to the end of days from 10pm.
