Out Now: the Beijinger - May 2014 Issue

With May peeking around the corner as we approach the holiday weekend, there's further cause for celebration – the May issue of the Beijinger has landed!

This month's Cover Feature looks at a selection of Beijing musicians and their lives away from the spotlight. Elsewhere, we take a tour around the Tongzhou Beiyuan neighborhood on a reconnaissance mission ahead of the upcoming Strawberry Music Festival being held in that area.

We check out a host of new restaurants including Brasserie 1893, Matta, amd Swagat. As well as that we slip on our dancing shoes and check out 5F and try our bow arm at the Jian Archery Club. We sampled a selection of locally-available Salsa dips (so you don't have to), ran around town to find out where you can pick up quality, value specs or lenses, and provide you our thoughts on some of the summer's big local music releases.

In addition to all that we managed to grab a word with US black metal rockers Deafheaven ahead of their May date in Beijing, and bring you a guide to Qingdao.

As usual, we bring you our handpicked choices of the best things to do in the city in May.
