Embrace Summer With The Rug's Refreshed Menu

Summer for us has long been associated with alfresco brunches at The Rug near Chaoyang Park. We popped into the Sanlitun location the other day and found the light airy space an equally pleasant location to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon (with the added benefit of air con).

The recently-launched summer menu matches the feel of the space. A plate of crisp corn fritters sandwich a heap of crab and mango (RMB 118). A "three times the fun" farmers market brunch (RMB 108) serves up three half bagels with smoked salmon, prawns and sauteed mushrooms and is more than big enough to share between two or even three. We particularly enjoyed a salad of grilled peaches, prosciutto and mozzarella, which took us back (in a good way) to retro starters of melon and parma ham.

Wash it all down with a passionfruit-infused iced tea, which unlike many similar offerings, has so much of the fruit it gets stuck in the straw.
