This Week: Rager Pie, Chile National Day at Enoterra and a Great Deal for Brunch at Agua

A couple of openings, reopenings and closings around town this week. Union Bar and Grille is back open in Taikoo Li South after a couple of months of renovations. They have an expanded seating area and some new menu items, including a pastrami rueben sandwich that I'm pretty keen to go and sample after a few happy hour drinks. Speaking of renovations, Mosto will be closing on September 25 for a well-earned facelift after six years of satisfying Beijing dinners. They should be back in action after the October holidays, with extended dining hours, including early brunch and a bar hang out area. Look for an oyster eatery called C Pearl to open on Xinyuan Jie sometime in October. The space comes from the team behind successful Shanghai oyster bar The Plump Oyster

If you're looking for something to do this Thursday night, get yourself over to Enoterra for their Chilean National Day celebration. The event is a steal at just RMB 168, which gets you free flow Chilean wines, free flow Andes still and sparkling water and free flow tapas from 8pm-midnight.

If you're just arriving back after the summer (in which case we are very jealous), then Agua is offering you the perfect way to ease back into the Beijing lifestyle: free flow cava with their weekend Infinity Brunch for just RMB 30 for the rest of September.

If you're looking to put a sweet end to your next house party, you may want to call new (ish) local pie delivery service Rager Pie. They offer delivery of whole pies for RMB 20 within the Third Ring Road. or you can order via new Beijing-based app Bringme and get a 50 percent discount. I called by their soft launch party at The Other Place a couple of weekends ago and tried all three of their current offerings (pecan pie, cream pie and pumpkin pie), of which the pecandrogynous (RMB 140), made with both pecans and walnuts, was a personal favorite - sweet without being sickly, crisp pastry.

Finally, I was very lucky to be invited to Feast at EAST Beijing's first monthly steak night last Friday. I'll be posting more about this in a separate blog post, but suffice to say for RMB 238 it's a pretty excellent deal.
