Billed as China’s top gaming convention run by gamers for gamers, the 2014 Beijing show runs October 25 and 26.

This bilingual (Chinese and English) event features game industry exclusive “sneak peek” panels, tabletop games from around the world, a Magic the Gathering tournament, a new digital games division, and world-class role playing experiences, say Khan Kon organizers.

Comments Khan Kon President Dan Bass, “We want to share our vast pool of knowledge about all things gaming with the gaming community, so we plan to offer various panels on topics like GMing an RPG and digital game design.”

Indeed, their gaming community is comprised of “members who are active in both local Chinese gaming communities as well as expats; moreover, they come from all walks of life: from lawyers to automotive designers to corporate professionals to game producers.”

Founded in 2012 and organized by a “non-profit fellowship”, Khan Kon is now it in its third year in Beijing. This will be the first year they head to Shanghai, holding their convention there on October 5 and 6.

Of the convention’s genesis, Bass boasts, “We went from ‘gaming retreat’ to a full gaming convention concept. We doubled in size, and it left us realizing there was a huge niche here that needed filling  a convention where gamers can have fun, play games, and meet other like-minded people.”

From its inception, Khan Kon was designed as an event to appeal to game players both new and old: a celebration of the role that games can “play” in building friendship and communities.

For the Beijing program, daily tickets are RMB 75 in advance and RMB 100 at door. Weekend passes pre-registration are RMB 120 and RMB 150 at the door. Weekend passes including the Magic the Gathering Tournament cost RMB 220 at pre-registration and RMB 250 at the door.

Game on!
