Four Killed in Beijing Neighborhood Explosion: Xinhua

An explosion in Beijing's Changping District has killed four people, with the cause being investigated, China's state-run Xinhua News Agency reported Saturday night.

The explosion and fire occurred around 3:30 pm in Baishan Township. Firefighters responded and extinguished the fire an hour later, the report says.

No other details were given. Officials are investigating the cause. Changping is best known as the area of Beijing where the Ming Tombs and Badaling Great Wall are located.

A neighborhood explosion in Zuojiazhuang Beili killed two people and injured eight others in August.
