EAT: Obentos Launch Breakfast, Buena Onda Long Sunday Lunch

Obentos has long been one of our favorite healthy restaurants in Beijing and now they are extending that healthy aesthetic to breakfast. Starting this Friday, July 31, breakfast will be available in-store (at their Central Park location) from 8am on weekdays and 9am on weekends. Dishes include the breakfast bento (RMB 42) (pictured above), featuring Japanese omelet, brown rice ball, mixed fruit, homemade muesli, natural yogurt, and organic honey, oyaku congee (RMB 28) with kale and avocado, and an oatmeal bowl (RMB 35) with natural yogurt and fruit. Head down this Friday to try it out and you will get a free small smoothie with your order. For the whole of August, the first five customers everyday will also get a free small smoothes.

Make sure you book early for Buena Onda's "Back to Zi Island Tropical Long Lunch," taking place on Sunday, August 9. Drawing inspiration from the Caribbean islands, the lunch menu will feature tropical dishes like gazpacho with crayfish salsa and aji amarillo prawns, paired with refreshing cocktails and drinks, and all accompanied by a live music act from Miss Lulu Galore and Dj Pierce. Tickets are priced at RMB 300 per person sign up in person at the restaurant, or via their WeChat at 湛Buena Onda. Read our First Glance of the new space here.

On the other side of town, Zarah are opening their rooftop terrace for a series of summer barbecues, the next of which is happening this Saturday, August 1. The price RMB 238 for meat eaters, RMB 138 for vegetarians gets you a wide selection of barbecue meats and vegetables from the grill.
