EAT: TRB Bites Still in Soft Opening, Two Southeast Asian Food Festivals

A reminder that if you haven't made it by to check out TRB Bites, the new casual off-shoot of TRB, then remember that they are still offering 25 percent off their soft opening menu until the end of September. We went by to check it out last week and were very impressed with the level of food and service on offer so soon after their opening. The menu at TRB Bites is presented as a selection of dishes diners can choose for three, four, or five courses priced at RMB 158, 198, and 238, respectively, accompanied by a parade of small snacks before, during, and after the meal. Don't have a big lunch you will leave stuffed.

For those who didn't quite get enough sun over the summer and are dreaming of warmer climes, two Beijing hotels are currently offering southeast Asian food promotions.

Firstly, Conrad Beijing is celebrating the cuisine of Bali and Indonesia as a whole, with a limited edition buffet menu filled with classic Indonesian dishes such as nasi goreng and gado gado. The buffet is available at lunch and dinner priced at RMB 238 per person (plus 15 percent service charge) but be quick the deal ends September 20.

Secondly, over at Fairmont Beijing, they have brought in a Thai chef from Swissotel Resort Phuket to cook up some of our favorite Thai dishes green papaya salad, green curry, and pad thai. They are offering a buffet lunch priced at RMB 258 per person (plus 15 percent service charge) or a la carte dining in the evening, both at their pan-Asian Lunar 8 restaurant.
