Pizza My Mind: Pizza Magazine's Yvonne Liu Unwinds With Pizza Now, Sureno, Tube Station

In the run-up to the 2015 Beijinger Pizza Cup (mark your calendars for the launch party on Oct 17-18), we've asked Beijingers to tell us about their favorite pizza places. Today we hear from Yvonne Liu, 37, who hails from Chengdu and is the Co-Publisher and China correspondent for PMQ Pizza Magazine. Her job requires her to visit pizzerias in Europe, the US and China, but all that work still hasn’t quelled her appetite for ‘za— in fact, the Chaoyang resident recreationally dines on pizza more than ten times per month.

Here's Yvonne's picks for her favorite Beijing Pies:

For home delivery when you're too lazy to make dinner:
"Pizza Now would be my first choice. One of its stores is just around corner from my home, so I expect to have a slice of hot pizza within 20-25 minutes when I order from them (editor's note: Pizza Now also is the only pizza place we know that offers 24-hour delivery). Their delivery people are always clean and neat. I wouldn't say Pizza Now pizza is the best pizza in the town, but when I’m not in a cooking mood, their service is prompt and just a phone call away, and that will quickly eliminate my hunger and tiredness."

An important business meeting where money is no object:
"My work is food related, therefore, my business meetings would be with someone from the restaurant or food industry. Sureno provides outstanding service, food and atmosphere. We foodies pay more attention to these details. The service is excellent, the waiters and waitresses know exactly what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. They’re very well-trained. Every time I go there, I’m impressed. I love their pizza because of its authentic origin. People in the restaurant business need to find out what authentic Italian food, especially pizza, looks and tastes like, and make some adaptation and localization."

When you need to make the kids happy:
"Absolutely Tube Station. A big pizza like that can always cheer up the kids, and Tube Station’s pizzas are so big that they seem like a wonderland for kids. Also, there are few stores that provide a place where kids can run and play. Tube Station’s Lido location has a playground on the first floor, and an outdoor area on both the first and second floor. It also has a parking lot that’s easy to access. I can go there with my family and friends, and all our kids can play together, while the adults enjoy the chatting. As a mother of two boys, it gives me peace of mind to see the kids enjoying their meal, and spending quality time with them and friends together."
