Chinese Pop Sensation Chris Lee Joins Forces With PC Music

PC Music is a label, collective, and trend of music that embraces an ultra-commercial aesthetic and couples it with knowledge of the avant-garde. The sounds created through this hybrid are equal parts computer generated and diva-driven pop music that wouldn’t be out of place in an anime OST.

Now that we got that description out of the way, just last November one of their main advocates, QT, made the trip to Beijing to lip-sing (yes, lip-sing) and DJ some of these PC hits for the party monsters at Dada, while showing off her brand of effervescent energy drink that bears her name.

Now it appears that these trending pop sensations are beginning to see their influence ooze into the capital’s music scene. As reported by Dazed Digital, PC Music and their collective of futurists, consisting of A.G. Cook and Danny L Harle, were recently commissioned to collaborate with the Chinese pop star and reality TV sensation Chris Lee (Li Yuchun).

Catch the music videos for both songs “Real Love and Only You” below, so that you can see for yourself the futuristic fruits of their labor. These songs both premiered last month (Dec 12-17) at the Tomorrow’s Party exhibition at Taikoo Li’s Orange Space.

Chris Lee rose to prominence after winning Super Girl in 2005, a talent oriented TV series similar to The Voice or the American Idol. Her tomboy looks differentiated herself from the other contestant and helped her to gain a huge following that has since landed her on the cover of Time Asia, and releasing dozens of chart-topping singles.

While the ultimate goal of PC Music is likely to work within the global pop music infrastructure, we bet they had no idea that their first outside collaboration with a legit superstar would come from China.
