Greet the Year of the Fire Monkey with the Noise Punk Stylings of METZ

Split Works kicks off the year of the fire monkey by bringing in a band that is not only full of incendiary material but who is also accustomed to monkey-like antics on stage. METZ will be pulverizing MAO Livehouse into oblivion this coming Saturday (Feb 20) with their louder-than-God live show.

Channeling the noise punk tendencies of bands like Shellac or Jesus Lizard, you can expect these guys to use loud volumes and feedback to turn Beijing’s freak scene into a pulsating puddle of slime (like what the Ghostbusters used to fight that Viggo painting) by the end of their set.

METZ consists of guitarist and vocalist Alex Edkins, bassist Chris Slorach and drummer Hayden Menzies, who all hail from Ottawa but who are based in Toronto, Canada, which we never thought was a town known for such abrasive music. They are appropriately signed to legendary grunge label Sub Pop, of which they have two albums and three singles with and have since been touring non-stop on these releases.

They will be supported by Future Orients (formerly known as The Eat). Get your tickets now through Yoopay.cn now for RMB 100, or wait till the day of and pick them up for RMB 120. Check out the event listing here for more info.
