Caravan Journeys Forward With a Massive First Anniversary Party Weekend

Riding high after taking home Outstanding Middle Eastern and Outstanding Personality at our 2016 Reader Restaurant Awards, Badr Benjelloun rushed back to his secret underground lair to pen the plan for his coming three-day (Mar 18-20) bash celebrating Caravan’s first year in business. You can expect things like copious amounts of music, munchies, and minor demolitions to lay a solid foundation for another year of soulful Moroccan flair.

Benjelloun is not a newb when it comes to throwing a party with an eclectic line-up of musical acts. We all remember DazeFeast. Sadly that little festival has moved on to greener pastures as Badr focuses on his Moroccan bistro, but this just means he’s transferred that passion towards bringing together food, drinks, and live entertainment into one funky package.

Here’s the lowdown on all the events going on throughout the weekend:

  • March 18: Witness a night of Beijing indie pop from Residence A, Whai, Dan & Heike, and Little Punk. After the live music they encourage you to stay and dance the night away with the infectious playlist of Mr. Compact Dicks.
  • March 19: This evening will feature another packed evening, with Wu & The Side Effects, Mademoisells et son Orchestra, and Plausable DeniaBilly. Get down with plenty of folk, country, and other drinking friendly styles of music that span genres and decades.
  • March 20: All hell will break loose on Sunday night. Imagine a legions of Freddy Kruegers busting into your house for a kegger. It will be something like that, with the punk shreds of Hell City, followed by the primate vibes of Bad Mamasan, and finally Nine Treasures (九宝) laying it down fast and hard at the end. There is a little rumor going around that after the celebration they will be taking a sledgehammer to the bar to make preparations for Caravan 2.0. Who knows what kind of trouble that will lead to?

Anyways, if you like Caravan and the great service of Middle Eastern cuisine and all around good vibes they have produced over the past year, then make sure to help them celebrate. Check out our event listing here for more details.
