What’s Up in Beer: Sunset Beer Run, Jing-A at Ramo Sunday, Slow Boat's New Sour, Guest Beers at Great Leap

Apart from the booze deals for St. Patrick's Day (check the guides here and here), below is your weekly beer scene update.

Mar 17: Sunset BHS Beer Run
Join the Sunset BHS Beer Run this Thursday (Mar 17), one of nine annual beer runs that the the group hold on every third Thursday through March to November. This week's "run" starts at sunset as usual and will guide you to four different bars – Jian Bar, Zone Bar, Hippo Beer, and finish at Lark Brewpub – and drinking four beers over the course of the four-kilometer journey. The journey starts at Jian Bar at 6pm, and will move onwards at 6.23pm. Not 6.22. Not 6.24. 6:23pm. Email BHS@beijingbrewing.com to RSVP before March 16, 6pm. Free. 6pm. Jian Bar

Mar 20: Ramo Sunday Funday with Jing-A
Ramo continues their now-traditions of Sunday Funday events, this time with the help of the crew at Jing-A. Jing-A's primo bartenders Richard "The Hammer" Ammerman with Johnny "King's Cup" will use Jing-A ice-cold beers (of course) to make beer cocktails throughout the afternoon and into the early evening. DJ Boflex will be on hand on decks to keep the party going. Free. 3-7pm. Ramo

Slow Boat Has New Sour Beer on Tap
Slow Boat unveiled their new Limey’s Lychees Sour beer on Monday, only the second time that they have tried their hand at brewing a sour beer. The aroma of lychees is subtle, fruity, and delicate and definitely worth a try for sour beer lovers or the unitiated alike.

Great Leap Brewing Puts Three Guest Beers on Tap
Great Leap Brewing’s three locations embrace four different beers on tap. Hurry up and try: Strong Ale Works (Qingdao) at the Original #6 location, Boxing Cat Brewery (Shanghai) and Le Ble D’or (Taiwan) at the #12 Brewpub location and 8 Wired Brewing Co. (New Zealand) at the #45 Brewpub location.

And finally, some gossip: Xiao Shuai from El Nido couldn’t be more pleased to show off his new “toy,” which features 12 taps. Currently, the Fangjia Hutong favorite has Yeastie Boys, 8 wired, La Chouffe, Brooklyn Lager, Karl Strauss, and Cider Republic on tap. We can't wait to have access to more ice-cold beers and sit outside in the coming warmer months.
