EAT: Taco Tuesday at Ron Mexico, Bottega Offers on Sherpa's, Indulge in a New Year's Eve Dinner

This week's EAT is mostly a collection of great deals we've come across over the past few days, which is perfect if, like us, you've gone overboard with the whole Christmas shopping and prepraration thing and are a little bit broke. We'll also recommend some New Year's Eve dinner destinations, for those looking to indulge later in the week.

Looking for something to eat near to my apartment, I took a wander to give Ron Mexico's Taco Tuesday a whirl. The idea is simple: you turn up from around 6.30pm onwards and are given soft tacos at the bar downstairs, which can be filled with a much or as little from the buffet upstairs. Tacos cost RMB 30 for one, RMB 50 for two, or RMB 60 for three (a really good deal considering how much you can stuff in). Meats are all prepared by the owners, who recommended a mix of chorizo and a pulled barbecue chicken (offer might differ depending on the week), a mix that we certainly stand behind and won't leave you hungry for a long while.

Another great deal is the Beijinger's 2016 Pizza Cup winner Bottega's half-price pizzas via Sherpa's on Monday to Thursday, 2-6pm. A different pizza is on offer every day, and includes diavolas (a spicy salami pizza topped with chili) on Mondays, margarita with ham and button mushrooms on Tuesdays, calzone al prosciutto cottos on Wednesdays, and vegetarian pizzas on Thursdays. Expect your bill to come to around RMB 40-50 per pizza.

If you're still looking to indulge and end the year in style, New Year's Eve has plenty of dinners in store for us Beijingers (aside from the great selection of parties). Sanlitun favorite Mosto, for example, is hosting a four course dinner at just RMB 450, and fine dining destination The Georg is celebrating the last day of 2016 with a seven course meal at RMB 888, with the option of adding RMB 688 per person for a full wine pairing.

The Big Smoke is also selling their New Year's Eve dinner per table of four, for RMB 988, and a 1920s bent on the occasion. The deal includes a bottle of prosecco for the table and a free Moscow mule for anyone dressed to see in 2017.
