This Week in Health and Fitness: Veganuary, Yoga Class at Ms. Uptown, Yoga Retreat in Chiang Mai

This Week in Health and Fitness brings you the best fitness and health goings on around town so you can live your #bestlife.

If you're wanting to cut on your meat and animal product intake its never too late, and January would be a good time to try and cut down, even if we're already halfway through. Veganuary helps people to do just that, in the organization's own words: "Veganuary aims to reduce the suffering of animals by inspiring and supporting people across the globe to go vegan for the month of January."

If you find yourself struggling or lacking inspiration, then the Veganuary website has a comprehensive "Starter Kit" with information on ingredients, reading labels, shopping, eating out tips, and more. Looking specifically at Beijing, we have a number of articles on Beijing's best plant-based dining options:

Ms. Uptown are also teaming up with GuavaPass this week to host a free community class on January 18. Start off the evening at 7pm with a K-pop dance class, then hang around after the class to enjoy some complimentary healthy snacks from Tribe Nutrition. To find out more about either of Ms. Uptown's events, call 186 1189 4423 or add them on WeChat (ID: uptownyoga).

On the subject of GuavaPass, they are running with some pretty cheap deals in the run up to the festive season, including three-month memberships for RMB 588 per month, and buy-one-get-one-free on monthly memberships. They have also increased the discount GuavaPass members can enjoy at Tribe's Sanlitun and Lido locations to 10 percent, so there's no excuse not to eat healthily after that workout.

Looking to escape Beijing and get fit a little further afield? Hanuman is currently advertising a five-day yoga retreat just outside of Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, offering "a non-competitive environment where the vibe is warm, gentle, supportive, and fun." The retreat, which takes place between January 30 and February 3, costs around USD 600. All the details can be found on the event listing here.
