EAT: Rager Pie Returns for Delivery, The Arepera x La Social, Vegan Dinner, Pak Pak Summer Cocktail Menu

Everyone's favorite pie store Rager Pie is back having been bricked up by the hutong onslaught. The team will now be on hand to deliver pies and their signature Jaka cold brews. To celebrate, they've created a new pecan and cherry pie you can bag for 25 percent off until the end of the month.

The way it works is simple: add Rager Pie on WeChat (ID: wilnos), and message them with what you want. Every day they will be giving away free delivery on three orders (within the Fifth Ring Road). For other orders, delivery costs RMB 3 inside the Second Ring Road, RMB 5 between the Second and Third Ring Road, RMB 8 between the Third and Fourth Ring Road, and RMB 15 between the Fourth and Fifth Ring Road.

Alternatively, you can find Rager on the Meituan and Baidu Waimai apps, or you can pick up from their new bakery-only 20 Beijianzi Xiang location (北剪子巷20号).

For all you vegans out there, or just those interested in veganism and keen to support the city's animal shelters, head to this Vegan Dinner Party and iAnimal VR Experience on Saturday, June 10 from 3-6.30pm (RMB 60). The charity dinner will be held at vegetarian restaurant Tianchu Miaoxiang in Wudaokou.

Attendees will enjoy a delicious vegan dinner, meet new people, and learn about pet adoption and volunteer opportunities with the city’s animal shelters. You'll also receive free raffle tickets with an opportunity to win lots of prizes. In addition to the vegan-friendly dinner and educational talks, attendees will also get to experience iAnimal Virtual Reality – read more about that technology here.

Definitely not vegan, join the good people behind La Social at the Jing-A Taproom for their second arepas takeover on June 7, 5pm-midnight.

You'll be able to stuff yourself with these lovely stuffed Columbian maize dough buns (RMB 38 each, various fillings) all the while guzzling down Jing-A's craft beer.

Over at Ritz-Carlton Beijing Financial Street, the team will host two-starred Michelin Chef Vincenzo Candiano at Cepe from June 13 through June 16.

His cuisine is rich in flavor, built on memories of Sicilian and Hyblean traditions (see one of his dishes pictured at the top). Set meals range from three to eight courses (3-5 courses at lunch, 5 or 8 courses at dinner) and from RMB 588 to 1,088. To book, call 6629 6996.

Finally, last week we were lucky enough to enjoy Pak Pak's new range of summer cocktails. Set on their spacious CBD venue's terrace just adjacent to The Place, each of the six varied RMB 50 cocktails are different enough that you're likely to find your favorite and then stick with it. Before you do that, however, you'll have to work your way down the list.

We were particularly fond of Lumphini Splash thanks to its creamy white and pink hue, and the addition of cut and vodka-infused pandanus leaf, allowing for a strong tropical flavor even before the alcohol has hit your lips. A shout out to Bangkok's China Town bar Teens of Thailand, Pak Pak's eponymous cocktail was also a winner, the black tea rounding off the gin's hardened edges, making it worryingly easy to knock back as the sun slowly descends.

Those Pak Pak cocktails sound great! I bet the one with gin infused black tea is especially delicious.
