8 Places to Watch Mayweather vs. McGregor This Sunday, Aug 27

The most hyped bout of the year – preceded by a controversial press tour and plenty of trash talk – will soon be upon us. And there will be plenty of venues across town to watch this showdown between undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and MMA star Conor McGregor.

Below we've listed the spots where you can see every show-stopping punch, and we'll continue to update this list as more venues announce their showings. Though there are six fights on the undercard, which start at 7.30am Beijing time, the main card starts at 9am, with the main event expected to begin at around 11.30am. Because of that, most attendees will likely show up around 11am to get a short head start on boozy breakfasts and pre-fight debates with their friends.

Paddy O'Shea's
The Dongzhimen pub was the first local joint to announce its plans to show this much-hyped slugfest. That shouldn't come as a surprise though, seeing as Paddy's was voted Beijing's best sports bar in our Bar and Club Awards last year. This has lead the management to warn potential patrons to come early, because they're expecting a capacity crowd and they won't be taking reservations. They'll be open from 8am onward, and the drink and food menus will be available as normal. Paddy's staff is also teasing an appearance from a "surprise pro-McGregor supporter" that'll surely be good for a laugh.

Q Mex
Boxing diehards will want to head to this Sanlitun restaurant, because it'll open very early, at 6.30am, so you can catch all undercard action. Q Mex will be serving two special themed breakfasts for the big fight:
- The Mayweather Breakfast (RMB 98): Grilled ham, two eggs over medium, served with buttered grits and bacon bits, biscuits and ground beef-flavored gravy on the side
- The McGregor Breakfast (also RMB 98): Corned beef hash – potato-cabbage hash and corned beef topped with eggs – and served with bread.

Both breakfasts come with two drinks of your choice. (Carlsberg or Corona and coffee or orange juice).

More info here. Reservations are recommended.

Caravan
Though menu details are still being sorted, this Guanghua Lu restaurant and bar will be serving breakfast and (better still) offering Boxing Cat brewery specials, one for each fighter, while broadcasting the highly touted bout. They'll also be open early for the undercard (though the specific time hasn't been finalized).

Plan B
This Shuangjing sports bar and eatery will also be an early bird, opening at 9am, to show the main card onward. For RMB 100 you can get an American BBQ breakfast with ribs and scrambled eggs, or an Irish/English fry up. Either include unlimited coffee or tea and a pint of Tiger. They have a TV screen outdoors and inside, meaning there's plenty of great seating options.

The Local
Full drink and limited food menus will be available at this Courtyard 4 pub and eatery. They'll also be open from 8.40am onward.

Joe's Bar and Kitchen
The recently opened Gongti sports bar will be open from 6.30am onward. Everything on the drink menu will be available, and the kitchen will serve a RMB 49.9 brunch consisting of sausage, bacon, pan-fried chicken breast, grilled tomato, a fried egg, toast and salad.

The Irish Volunteer
Over in Lido, this bar and restaurant will open at 10am on the day of the fight, selling Tsingdaos for RMB 10 each, Bloody Marys and frozen slush drinks for RMB 25 (or RMB 30 for a double shot), and they'll serve a breakfast including three eggs, bacon, toast and homefries for RMB 40.

Buddy Bar
Also in Lido, Buddy's outdoor and indoor big screen TVs will also work well for peeping every punch and hearing each round be rung in. Their entire food and drink menus will be available, and they'll be open by 9am.

Two more places have also stepped into the ring:

Whoops, I missed a couple:
