EAT: Late Night Pizza Disco at Bottega, Red Bowl Third Anniversary, Middle East Feast at Arcade

Pizza and disco are two of our favorite things, so we were pretty excited when Bottega announced their "Late Night Pizza Disco." Every Friday and Saturday night from 11pm-2am, Bottega's Nali Patio location is transformed into a party space (and we mean transformed; they don't just push the tables aside, they cover up the kitchen, hoist a disco ball, and set up turntables). Along with a full menu of cocktails, priced around RMB 65-75 (we especially love the Paper Plane, with amaro, aperol, bourbon, and lemon juice), they also serve Italian street food snacks, such as arancini (RMB 20), deep-fried calzone (RMB 45), nine-inch pizzas (RMB 40-45), and panino (RMB RMB 45). A fun way to party the night away without getting too drunk.

Speaking of things we like: hot pot. The chicest hot pot in town is definitely to be found at Red Bowl in the Rosewood, which is celebrating its third anniversary this weekend (Apr 20-21). For some reason, they've gone with a VR game theme. The restaurant will be transformed into a battleground setting and hotel staff will be dressed to match the theme. A live DJ will keep the party buzzing and there will be a lucky draw. Entry is priced at RMB 688, including unlimited broth and hot pot fixings, sparkling wine, and cocktails made table-side.

Head to Arcade on Thursday night for a Middle Eastern feast prepared by chef Sharon Dekel. Sharon grew up in Jerusalem and immigrated to Australia in 2012. Once in Australia, she started to recreate the flavors of her home country in her own kitchen before eventually deciding to take a professional commercial cookery course. A year ago, she moved to Beijing and started sharing her favorite flavors with her friends here. Priced at RMB 150, the dinner includes a welcome drink, a mezze selection (hummus, tahini, etc), and two kubeh soups, a popular dish across the Middle East.
