Are you ready to party? The results of the Beijinger's Ninth Annual Reader Bar & Club Awards will be announced this Saturday, May 19 at Sanlitun Soho. Doors open at 2pm, which means a whole day of drinking to the newly arrived Beijing summer.

The following words will tell you everything that the picture of 'N Sync does not. To celebrate the last ten years, we want you to come dressed as them. (The years 2001-2011, not the boy band.)

We were thinking that it's about time to start reprising some of the fashions of recent yesteryear. Have a root around your wardrobes and dust off those trucker hats. Either that or you can get all conceptual and come as SARS or the Beijing Olympics.

We’re turning ten this month, and we want you to come and celebrate with us.

Our big birthday bash will take place this Saturday, October 15th. It’s going to be an absolute corker with some of the best of Beijing’s bands and performers offering us a unique take on the last decade.

Obviously, the party is not one to be missed, but if you were thinking about skipping it, here are a couple of reasons not to: food and drink (not necessarily in that order). Yep, as ever we’re promising attendees more booze than anyone can possibly drink, plus soft drink options for those so inclined.  There might even be a slice of cake and a goodie bag in it for you too. It’s no secret that bars (and clubs) are still a fairly new invention in Beijing. Until as recently as the mid-1990s, Hard Rock Cafe was about the only place in town where a mixed drink didn’t mean tea leaves and hot water. Beijingers have traditionally done their serious drinking in restaurants, and most still do.

The House music party of the year is just over the horizon. Cosmo Two in One takes place at 798 Art Zone this Saturday, November 27 – and we have 5 double passes to give away!

With the last remaining presale tickets for Saturday’s Yen Fetish party sold last night – and with hundreds of people expected to show up on the night looking to get in – the organizers, o2 Culture, have issued a statement with advice on Saturday’s door policy.

I have heard this so many times from others: "I want to see more gigs, but always ended up at some club or party, because my friends like those." or something similar.
Who are those friends? OK, I have to admit it, I have them too. Sometimes, you would just miss a good gig like that. Hence I'm proud of myself that I resisted all other temptation and went to 2 Kolegas and Yugong Yishan last weekend and saw some young bands I wanted to see. A band which actually has been around for many years but has never been known by many people caught my attention at the GBOB: Residence A (A公馆). They handled their post-brit-rock style really well. Keep an eye on the GBOB, there could be more surprises.

The Creators Project started its world tour in June in New York City, and has since made footprints in London, Sao Paulo and Seoul.
This weekend, from September 17 to 19, the Creators Project comes to Beijing, bringing together nearly one hundred artists, filmmakers and musicians to display their works and performances at 798 Art District.
Things kick off on Friday at 10pm, with Tresor. Beijing transforming one of 798’s disused factory buildings for a night of techno and other electronic sounds from German DJs. Entry is RMB 50.
