The Account Executive is responsible for selling advertising space and sponsorship for all TRM products (online, print, and marketing events) in the defined territory. This role is responsible for new account development, expanding existing accounts, contract preparation and execution, accounts payable collections, and maintaining close relationships with key contacts. When I first got to Beijing and got my first English teaching job, I was extremely nervous and excited. The nervousness was mainly due to lack of confidence in my abilities since I am not a native English speaker (most people I meet say I’m pretty close to native English proficiency though), and the excitement was due to the hope that I could make twice the amount of money I was making at my dead-end job at a Chinese marketing research company.

Even though I just started teaching, that first school didn’t give me any help or advice on how to actually teach English, so I had to figure everything out for myself. It was tough, stressful and extremely time-consuming. I didn’t get a whole lot of job satisfaction because in the back of my mind I knew I was faking it and I couldn’t see much improvement in my students. If it wasn’t for the encouragement and support from a few wonderful students, I would probably have thrown in the towel.
