The houtong was renovated just prior to the Olympics and is at the East Gate of the Forbidden City. This houtong is peace and quiet in the middle of the city. You can sit outside in the courtyard or take a stroll to the Pudusi temple right behind the apartment: there are art shows there every weekend.
