Not So Fast: New Survey Says Beijing One of Least Romantic Cities Worldwide

Around Valentine’s Day we reported on a survey that named Beijing as one of the most romantic cities in the world – with incredible disbelief. And it seems we were right; Expedia and GfK surveyed 1,000 American adults as part of their Heat Index study and shone light on mating and dating habits of tourists. It turns out Beijing isn’t so high up on the list after all ... in fact it's nearly dead last.

Beijing shows up in the top three for both the “least sexy” and “least romantic” lists, as does Kowloon, Hong Kong. The city taking the spot of sexiest and most romantic city does not come as a surprise: Paris. Las Vegas and Cancun take second and third spot, respectively.

Fox News reports that according to the study, 28 percent of Americans are “more intimate” with a partner while on holiday, while 39 percent said it “depends on the location”. There are quite a few surprising results in the survey: 65 percent of Americans say “the hotel” is the most likely venue for vacation action, while 23 percent named the bathtub, 20 percent the beach, 17 percent a tent, and 10 percent voted for the balcony … Four percent got frisky in a rental car.

Don’t get us wrong, we absolutely love our beautiful city, and it's chock full of romantic places to dine out.

But one of the most romantic in the world? Nay.
