Five Ways You Can Have Fun (and Help Nepal at the Same Time)

[Update 5/27}: Though four of these events have already passed, we've found two more to add -- check the comments to this post for details]: Wondering how you can do your part for Nepal while here in Beijing? Here are a few ways you can help out without leaving the city limits:

Friday, May 22: Moka Bros X Nepal: Food for Food
MOKA Bros has teamed up with the World Food Program (WFP) to raise money for earthquake relief. All sales between opening and 3pm this Friday (May 22) at both MOKA Bros locations in Beijing (as well as their outlet in Chengdu) will be donated to the WFP. The aim is to raise RMB 40,000, which would feed 260 families, or 1,300 people.

Saturday, May 23: Color for Nepal
Color for Nepal
is a multimedia extravaganza staged in the theater, bar, gallery and roof terrace of the Penghao Theater from 2.30pm-10.30pm. The event features bicycle acrobatics, jugglers, bluegrass from Chris Hawke and Randy Abel, a photo booth staffed by prolific Beijing street photographer Frank Yu, and more.

Saturday, May 23: Rooftop Soirée and Auction
Migas will be holding a Rooftop Soirée and Auction (Art Messages for Nepal) from 4.30-7pm. It'll be an early summer evening of art, photography and drinks in aid of the Himalayan nation. Works by professional photographers and artists along with Nepal-themed canvases created by the Beijing community will be displayed and auctioned for charity, and up to 80 percent of the beverage proceeds will go to earthquake relief efforts. Funds raised will be donated to the International Medical Corps, which is deploying mobile medical units to provide emergency care and vital relief supplies.

Sunday, May 24: Fundraising Film Day by Living Nepal
Three great Nepalese movies will be shown at Bell House (formally Ball House) in Gulou. Come enjoy some Nepalese culture and enjoy special drinks offers and snacks/food as well. Films shown will be Manakamana (3.30pm); Highway (5.45pm), and Himalaya (7.20pm).

Sunday, May 31: BSB Shunyi Summer Fayre
BSB Shunyi Summer Fayre is a day-long family-friendly bonanza that is hard to pass up on a late spring day. There will be dozens of food vendors, plus games, bouncy castles and more. Proceeds from the fayre will go to the Nepal Earthquake Appeal as well as Couleurs de Chine.
