2 Kolegas 两个好朋友

"Dos Kolegas," "Two Kolegas," "Two Good Friends" or "liangge hao pengyou"? No matter what you call it, this tiny bar lies deep in the heart of a drive-in complex and could be likened to your best friend's party basement - the friend whose parents were so cool that you could go over anytime, hang out, drink, smoke and play music for as long as you damn well pleased. And while your friend's parents probably kept their place cleaner and didn't heat the place with stinky coal, their yard probably wasn't as big. And there's no way that your friend had access to yangrou chuan'r like these or could lure so many bands - from jazz to experimental (2 Kolegas hosts experimental mogul Yan Jun's Waterland Kwanyin nights) - to play most nights of the week.

I just can't stand this scenester sty,
Where wanton stoners vacantly abide.
But vacant not is this hellhole! Why?
THC turns blandness into a foolhardly eventide!

Good place but somehow I dont like in winter

I like this place in summer but in the winter when you cannot enjoy the outside patio , the place looks a bit boring.
Prefer Mao or any such happening place compared to this in winter.

Check it out

Claiming themselves as "Beijing's Hottest Dive Bar & Live Music Venue", 2 Kolegas doesn't disappoint. With pool tables in the garden, bar service inside and out, and a stage occupied by anything new and interesting, you're in for a perfect and completely enjoyable night.

Where did the rock go?

:< 2Kolegas used to be my favorite bar but things have changed a lot in the last year. It used to be all about rock n' roll here. Now I find myself there on a saturday listening to techno and wondering where the live music is, and why the energy of China's underground music scene has left the building. Then I go to the bar, where the foreign bartender is too busy chatting up girls to notice that some people have been waiting for about half an hour to try to get a drink, me included. The only good development here has been the addition of new toilets. I don't know what's been going on here, but I really hope that friendly, open, relaxed, rock n' roll atmosphere that once made 2Kolegas what it is comes back soon.

Thank God there's a place like this...

...in Beijing. Ever hear of... space? Yes!!! This place has secured a place in "the woods" and I hope it sticks around for a long time. It's doing good so far! Well connected into the underground and experimental music scene with quite a good space and enough junk furniture to accomodate the outdoors, I welcome the crowd and performers who drop through. And also the die-hard portuguese bartender. All good vibes and a spirit of feisty freedom to boot! Get out of the hub. Come down here if you can find it!

Out of the way..

I've always wanted to go see 2 Kolegas as I've heard about reviews on it for the longest time. I finally got to visit w/ a friend during one of Bookworm's festival events. Place is a bit small, to think that live performances happen, but I guess as what previous comment said, it creates a community-kind of feeling. Easy to chat w/ others.

Staff are friendly and the bartender that time, the foreigner guy w/ the dreads and well-toned body (hihi), was very accommodating.

But still, I'm all for hopping from one bar to the next. That is to say, a Sanlitun fan at heart. So I'm not sure I'll still trek out to 2 Kolegas anytime soon..

Cool outdoor area, good sound system.

While it's not as centrally located as Mao Livehouse or Yugong Yishan, 2 Kolegas has some great gigs and a relaxed, slightly grungy atmosphere. The drinks are reasonably priced and the staff friendly. The area where the bands play is actually pretty small, but that makes it easy to build an atmosphere with even a small crowd.

The sound here has always been pretty good, unlike the notorious Yugong Yishan PA.

One of the best things about the venue is the outdoor area, which really adds to the vibe in summer. Even in the cooler months, the space outside provides a place to take a rest from the music and have chat.

One slightly irritating aspect of the place is that gigs often start really really late, which can be a pain if you're tired and the act you want to see is on last. The bathroom also kinda sucks.

But hey, it's a rock venue so if you're looking for an early night and a clean toilet you're probably in the wrong place.

The most haunting nights in Beijing

I was there twice, almost five years ago and it was amazing. I felt like at home very far from my "home" (Spain). Fine music (YanJun's Waterland series) and nice place.

Please renovate female toilet

It has been always a great venu to go for live concert, summer hang out. I love this place with the tropical island atmosphere. And one good thing is I was never drunk there... Because I'm very careful about how much I drink in case later I could have the problem of their "toilet issue". Not long time ago they finally separated the male and female room, but they made a bigger toilet for men! Everyone knows in this world in any living matter female need a bigger place to relieve. Please renovate a nicer toilet for us. So I can drink more rum coke next time... But I still give you 4 stars.

one of my favorite places in Beijing!

This place has hosted some of my most memorable shows in Beijing: great for a summer night out (for people who loves live music of course), absolutely love the grass outside and the decor is intimate enough to have a kick-ass gig without getting too crowded...

Fun place

2 Kolegas is one of my favorite places to go in Beijing for socializing, seeing great bands, and getting a cheap drink. I often go alone and leave meeting at least one or two new friends - this is the best place to find good people. Not to mention that the people who work here are hospitable and completely rad. Being in Beijing for only 2 months, this place has made me feel less homesick and provides even a better time than what i had at some venues in America.
Five stars guys, don't miss out on this place, for real.

Another night at the drive-in

Dos Kolegas is one of my favorite places in Beijing to see live music. Most of the local rock and electronic music acts make their way to play here so if you wait long enough you'll be able to catch them here on the east side of town.

Drink prices are affordable and the cover charge if any is not too much. The bar itself isn't terribly large and can get a bit hot and smoky at times but with a nice open grass field just outside you can take a breather between sets.

In the summertime sometimes there are mini-festivals here most often put on by the Tag Team Records guys. If they could just get Carsick Cars to play here once in awhile I'd be happy.
