Part restaurant, part theatrical experience. Nine Dynasty serves contemporary Chinese cuisine inspired by imperial, Cantonese and Shandong cookery in lavishly decorated banquet halls and private rooms. The design theme is based on the palaces, antiques and decorations of China’s nine ancient imperial dynasties. Yet this is much more than just food and fancy decoration. On Wednesday and Saturday evenings, after enjoying set meals (RMB 299-999 per person), patrons can enjoy a performance of one of the most ancient forms of Chinese opera – Kunqu. Nine Dynasty also offers a tea and coffee section for guests to enjoy coffee, dessert and traditional tea ceremony; a cinema playing three indie films/documentaries repeatedly for free to entertain diners; and a branch of the famous Sanlian bookstore purveying a selection of mostly culture, history and art titles.
