All-Star Sports Bar and Grill

Around the wall of the All Star runs a GT stripe that plays nicely off the curving lines of the bar counter. A frieze of 65 plasma screens shows a mash up of sporting moments, courtesy Star TV, ESPN, CCTV 5 et al. It’s a pretty cool package and they've got food too. The menu starts with a 24-hour breakfast, and the rest of the eats go from tortilla dip to sirloin steak. In between lie burgers, pizza, Mexican and pasta. Drinks include draft beers local and imported bottled beer, cocktails and fiercely priced wine.

Horrible Service Horrible Food

Review of All-Star Sports Bar and Grill

Bad service, very bad food. To the poster who raved about the TV's, who cares about the TV's? You go to a restaurant to eat, if the burgers are worse than McDonald's the sandwiches worse than subway and the pizza worse than pizza hut, well we know what taste buds you lack.

Avoid like the plague.

Terrible service, blah food, bratty kids.

Went here for lunch today. Had been before months ago for drinks and snacks and found it ok.

Today: Three of us ordered burgers, as well as some nachos and chicken wings to share.

45 minutes later (place was empty save for one table full of screaming kids) the nachos arrive. They consist of 7-11 style fake cheese sauce and chips with some quacamole and sour cream that look like they were hurled on top by an angry person. Yuck.

Another 40 minutes go by, still nothing else arrives, one Chinese couple at a table who came in after us completely flipped their sh*t, screamed at the staff, threw some cutlery on the floor and left.

After asking where the burgers are, another 15 minutes and 2 of the burgers arrive. They insisted that we had not ordered 3 burgers. Said screw it, waited another 10 minutes for the chicken wings and left.

Burgers were ok. Bad, obviously frozen cheap fries. Wings blah.

Numerous staff standing around doing nothing, including a guy behind the bar trying to twirl bottles about like an Asian Tom Cruise.

Slow, inattentive service, crap nachos and screaming children.

Won't be going again.

Oh, and the music was a mixture of Bon Jovi and The Eagles.

true to its name

all-star is true to its name. the number and quality of their TVs is the best in town. it is also pretty spacious so you can usually find a place to sit for big games and if not the crowds make it really lively. the food aint that bad either. aint bad taking a break from tsingdao getting some american beer and watching some good old fashioned football. get your game face on!

All-star gets a 5-star!

If you want real American burgers, real Mexican tacos, and real sports TV shows, you have to come here. And when I say real, I meant servings-wise, staff-wise, and price-wise. Oh, and quality-wise, too, of course. The servings were very generous. I think if you're not a guy, you have to share an order of food because it's just damn too much! The staff speak decent English. The senior staff (maybe manager) came up to our table twice to see how we're doing and it felt genuine. Unlike some upscale restos I've been to where they also go up to you but you can feel that they're doing it because they're supposed to.

For the sport shows showing on TV, they have like maybe a thousand screens everywhere! And they all show DIFFERENT sports channels. I didn't even realize there could be too many. But not a big sporting fan so couldn't care less. hehe I was there for the food.

The all-day breakfast menu items are the biggest winners for me. Good dinner food before going to movies or hitting the clubs in Solana.

Quite decent, but pricey

This place is quite decent, went in on a night when there was no real sporting events on, so it was quiet, they were showing some old Premiership football matches, which was decent enough.

For 90RMB, the large meat-lovers pizza is decent, lots of good toppings, no rubbish plastic sausage like you get at some places, but the bill was steep, came to over 150 for my portion and I only had a pizza, a soft drink and then one draft Tsingtao!

The toilets are huge, so you can have a decent crap in comparative functional luxury, once you've had your fill of American meat, bread and cheese-based products.

The fuwuyuan was gorgeous and very friendly, hats off to them for wherever they sourced her from (probably Sichuan).

Only downer was the annoyingly loud American bird and her boyfriend sat behind me. Who let a bird, much less a gobby one, in a Sports Bar? Obnoxiously loud Yank birds should be charged 50RMB entry, if that happened I'd give them the 5 stars.

Worth visiting

Football leather bucket seats and basketball court tables - Good conceptual interior. Very comfortable place with a number of big screens. The menu is huge; lots of burgers, steaks and pasta. Their chili-cheese dog (58RMB) is really a treat, blueberry pancakes (65RMB) are also quite tasty. The size and quality of the sandwiches will exceeded your expectations. The bread was fresh and delicious, and the sandwich was overflowing with cherry tomatoes, cheese, and mushrooms.

Although solana is still a bit slow but when we left, the place was packed with mostly Chinese customers, so credit to All-Star for being able to draw a big domestic crowd. Overall a worthy dining experience.

Clean, nice screens, but overpriced

Tried their burger and found it smaller than expected for the inflated price. Salads and pizza also overpriced for the portion size. Kudos for the sports screens though

Not all that

I've tried the pancakes and the quesadilla here. I asked the waiter how big the pancakes were before ordering because I found the prices on the high side and the waiter responded emphatically, Oh yeah, it's big. So I figured oh good, this place must serve up American-sized portions. I was just thinking this seems like a pretty American place. But, the pancakes were pretty damn small.

Mexican food here was disappointing, but so far every place in BJ that does Mexican has been subpar. The beans honestly looked like...well, vomit? It was tasteless. Quesadilla itself was okay, just again small. So, still on my quest for decent Mexican in BJ....

This place is palatable, but I don't think the prices are justified and the decor (sports bar) does nothing for me. Put it this way, I don't think I'd ever suggest going to eat this place to any of my friends.

The burger isnt that good

Tried the bacon burger, just not good. I particularly didnt like the cheese.
The size was fine, the bread was ok.

The place does give a luxury feel with so many screens around, good for guys who love sports but if you are looking for good food, look somewhere else.

Good for watching sports and drinks

The too many screens are always welcome.
The best is you dont miss the screen even when you take a break for a pee in the loo!there is screen.
The food stuff is a hit or miss . There has been some good food served here though bit pricey.
Drinks prices are on a higher side ,but the drinks are good.
Unless there is a very big group or unless you love so many screens we dont visit this place. In summer we visit this place more often ,winter Solana is to be avoided !

don't waste your money on the food.

if i was really a sports fan, i might go back just to watch a game. a whole lot of television and sports. definately where they are spending their money.
but i'm not much of a sports fan, and i was mistakenly under the impression that all star had really good nachos.
food truly awful. how is it possible they won an award for best burgers? The burger was ok if you left on the three layers of cold pallid tomatoes, and the thick slice of onion... but once you removed the over-generous portion of anemic additions, all you were left with was a salty crispy piece of almost meat. and the nachos? One word: velveeta. pasteurized processed cheese-like food is not cheese, and outside of yankee's stadium has no place on nachos.
i will not be back to the all star grill. the awful meal also reminds me why i hate eating out in the states. most suburbs are congested with this kind of sysco crap food.
thank god we have better options in beijing.

Good place to watch sports

I like the place with many screens. Even you go to pee down you dont miss your 1 minute break! The food and drinks both if not spectacular are still good .Yes this place is expensive than the normal small sports bars, but the place is still good if you want to watch some sports specially with a large group.

New burgers!

Tried the new menu at All-Star last night - I recommend the blue cheese and bacon burger. The pizzas have had an overhaul too and are much tastier than before. Try the corn tortilla soup and fat loaded potato skins.

Tasty potato Fries

Tasty burgers and excellent sweet potato fries. The chicken wings are not good - quite dry. The prices are allright. A good menu for a group dining, that includes chinese and foreigners.

All-Star's hot dogs aren't so hot

Review of All-Star Sports Bar and Grill

Since the Kala Hot Dog stand at Shin Kong Place closed several months ago, I have been on a hunt for the best hot dog in Beijing.

I decided to give All-Star a chance even thought they failed during my hunt for the best Hamburger in Beijing.

First of all it's not a "Hot Dog Sausage" as they have it on their menu. A hot dog is a sausage in a bun. Just call it a "Hot Dog".

The main features of a "Hot Dog" are the wiener or frank (depending upon if it is made from beef or pork), the bun and the condiments.

It was difficult to find the meat in this "Hot Dog" as the bun and condiments were hiding the small amount of meat that I finally found. The meat was tasteless and colorless. I prefer to call it mystery meat.

The bread was good. Soft and tastey. But much to big for the small size of the wiener inside.

Please don't put the condiments on the "Hot Dog". Let people decide for themselves what they want on it. With that said, you had no mustard on your "Hot Dog"! It was smothered in ketchup and mayonnaise. Mayonnaise? OFMG! Mayonnaise!?! The most popular condiment in America (where the "Hot Dog" was invented) is mustard and you had no mustard. Shame on you.

DQ had a much better "Hot Dog" than All-Star.

I am still hunting for the best "Hot Dog" in Beijing.

Mediocrity defined

Whats up with all-star always posting fake reviews?

If you're posting 5 star reviews for this place then you have some seriously low standards of what dining out should be.

Anywhere enough slagging here's the real review

The ambiance is very sterile, like a hospital ward, zero warmth. I mean its awesome that they have 65 plasmas (i never counted but i'll give them the benefit of the doubt)but this space agey diner seems too flashy for a sports bar. Wheres the sports?

Food was passable. We got quesadillas and a burger, quesdilla was on par with most of the mexican food joints around town so basically edible but nothing to write home about. BUrger was decent.

Service was slow and inattentive considering that we were the only table in the whole joint.

Mediocre everything, i expect a bit more for the prices that we paid.

Love All-Star

I am one of the fans of this restaurant. No matter how people judge on it. but I am just simply like it. maybe someone might say this is fake Ads again...but who give damn care about that....I won't put my comments if I am not really personally experience it. I would rather to choose shut up and sit tight...

I am going to that restaurant almost every week-end with my friends. their food are simply good and personally I do think the portion is way to big. their milk shakes are great and deserve for a try.

I love All-Star =D>

Seriously fake ad

That post by Lana Lin is definitely a fake post by someone who works for the company. Its unbelievably easy to see. If your gonna fake it, try not to pat yourself on the back too much. Any restaurant that feels the need to post fake ads is definitely not a place I wanna go.

As for me, never been to that restaurant. All the negative posts I've read about it spur me towards other restaurants. Ciao

All-Star's BBQ Buffet Rocks

Review of All-Star Sports Bar and Grill

Heard All-Star started doing an All-you-can-eat BBQ buffet every Thursday, so I went with a group of my friends. If you are a carnivore, meat lover, then I highly urge you to try it.

At first we were confused to see all the meat uncooked on the buffet counter, but the manager explained that they grill everything fresh and bring it out to you. And it was BOMB! Personal Favorite was the Hawaiian short ribs, so soo good!! And also loved the steak kebabs and the pork ribs. Great deal - it's all you can eat for 99rmb. We all left completely stuffed nd satisfied.

I can't believe more people don't know about this deal!!

My friend is a vegetarian, so she obviously didn't go for the meat fest, and instead opted for the tuna and avocado salad, which was hands down one of the best salads I've come across in China! Who would have known? The portion was not a enormous as Element Fresh, but I love avocado and this was really fresh and a great summer salad. And they did not skimp on the amount of avocado and seared tuna.

I only wish they included their lemonade and chocolate lava cake or cookie monster dessert in the all-you-can-eat deal..

Overall, great experience and recommend it to everyone who likes a LOT of good meat!

Do not go here.....

This place has signs that say "Open 24 hours." If you call their number, you will get a recording saying open 24 hours. However, I tried to go there around 8 am one morning to check it out and they still had a sign that said open 24 hours, yet they were not really opening until 11 am. I flagged down some employees inside who tried to brush me off with the old "we are closed, come back later." However I explained to them (in broken Chinese) what the phone number and sign said. Then the employee told me I was wrong about the phone number when clearly I wasn't. I don't care if this place has the best burgers in Beijing, I will never go there again. I am usually not one to sweat the small stuff, especially while living in China, but that is totally unacceptable. And in true Chinese service industry fashion, they could give a you know what about trying to appease the customer. Truly pathetic and I hope they lose business because they definitely don't know how to run one. I know this is not the west, but if you run a business under the guise of it being western and charge western prices, you cannot pull this. I urge others not to support these kinds of places otherwise the culture will not change.
