The people who know how easy it is to register a foreign company often represent foreign com-panies that have succeeded in registering; they have no desire to let their competitors know how simple it is. Others in the know are consultants, who can also make more money if registration is perceived to be a very difficult process. While it may well be worth your while to use a consultant, lawyer or agent to help you set up your Beijing company, all the regulations governing the process are freely available from the Beijing Foreign Investment Service Center (BFISC). BFISC can also help you complete all the formalities of registering a company for fees much lower than what consultants typically charge. However, you should be aware that since BFISC is a Beijing government organization, they may not have your best interests at heart, particularly when it comes to ensuring that your company is properly set up to export profits, or is properly tax-efficient.
