Have been a big fan of their CARROT CAKE for years now! Not to mention their gourmet cakes... ;-)

I've ordered a few times from Bread of life and feel these people need a bit more press for their good work. The carrot cake and pecan pie are delicious, knowing the proceeds help physically disabled orphans lead fuller lives makes everything sweeter. Take the time and plan out a delivery, it's so worth it.

Review of Bread of Life Bakery
Before I mention the pies, I really need to correct the inaccuracies in terms of the Bread of Life Bakery's location. It is NOT in Shunyi. It is approximately located halfway between Beijing and Tianjin in an area called Langfang (廊坊). Thus, if you're ordering anything from the bakery, make sure to go with the delivery option. Otherwise, a taxi out there will be over an hour from a place like Dongzhimen and will easily exceed 150RMB in cost. Or, alternatively, I believe bus 938 from the Beijing Railway Station will take you to Langfang and back as well, about 11RMB and 1 1/2 hrs per way (Langfang is the last stop). But again, a lot of commute time just for some pies.
However, as far as the pies go, they were fantastic. The crust was easy to cut through but wasn't too crumbly, and the fruit in the apple pie was fresh and the perfect mix of tart and sweet. The pumpkin pie was delicious - creamy and fragrant. Also, the price not only contributes to a charitable and worthy cause, but it's extremely affordable, especially compared to similar quality pies I've seen advertised.

Review of Bread of Life Bakery
I first discovered this organization when one of my coworkers brought in some carrot cake from Bread of Life for a company party. Amazing, especially for someone who doesn't really like cakes or carrots. Everything tastes home made to a high quality. I'm a fan of Lollipop bakery as well but Bread of Life is less pretentious and offers great value (Strawberry Pies for 65rmb!) and helping out worthwhile cause as well. They are out in Shunyi but they deliver.

Really nice cakes, and what is even more satisfying, is that you are helping charity by purchasing from here! Anyone looking for a small snakc or looking for cakes for a big occcasion should buy from here. Only small problem is that they are in Shunyi...miles from civilisation(downtown)

Review of Bread of Life Bakery
Tried the pumpkin pie a few months ago and was really impressed - the texture, flavor and pastry were all just right.
And for RMB 80 (with fruit pies for even less) the value is phenomenal compared to competitors on the market. Factor in that the enterprise is dedicated to giving livelihood to disabled people ... and I feel like it should possibly cost more to keep the margins healthy on such a legit product.
