A burger selection to rival the best of them, and the choice of Trappist, craft and other beers isn't bad at all.
I didn't totally believe the Beijinger review when it said that Burgers and Beer in the Scitech Outlet Mall had (Marston's) Pedigree on draught. Well it does and, even better, it has been buy one get one free (RMB45) for the past few weeks (Monday -Friday). It's served a bit colder than it would be in Staffordshire but is as close to the real thing as you can get without a hand pump. The place is very clean, light and open. Has an open kitchen and booths as well as a decent pool table. The burger menu has as many combinations as any normal human being could ask for. I plumped for Big Ben which had bacon and blue cheese. Did the job very nicely for RMB69. The Burger comes without sides (not in the geometric sense of course; it would all fall out), so chips will set you back an extra RMB25. It's a decent place for lunch while shopping and probably worth checking out as the subway is nearby. If you like your Pedigree (but not enough to pay GBP4.50 a pint) get down there quickly. Other beers are available.
I came to the Burgers & Beer because it's close to my compound in central villa district. It's located inside the Scitech Outlet mall which is next to Cathy Villa. I was pleasantly surprised to find over 10 burger options and many imported beer selections, especially Belgian beers! The burgers there are quite juicy and tasty. I especially like the Roadhouse, which is a classic American burger with french influence. It features gruyère cheese, sauteed onions, mustard, garlic dressing, mayo and bacon. Had to say that I became a fan of this place after that. Since it's newly opened, still some improvements on service and product consistency needed. But overall, highly recommend!
