Cheese and Wine Made In Heaven
Run by a sharply dressed Parisien, this little spot by Chaoyang Park West Gate has a simple way of working. You sit down. You order a bottle of wine - they have plenty, and owner Chris is happy to recommend something. You order some cheese from the chilled cheese room, either by weight or one of the three fixed-price platters. And you enjoy. The cheese is mostly French, though there are bits and pieces from the UK, Switzerland and elsewhere. A handy place that's just a little bit different from anywhere else around West Gate.

Went there for a pleasant evening with my husband, wound up having literally the worst service of my life. We were the only ones there at 6:45 on a Thursday night. The manager was there, but not accommodating whatsoever.
Did he take our order-- NO. We had to call him after 20 minutes
Did he explain the process of how to pick the cheese-- NO.
Was he friendly and welcoming-- NO. He made it feel like we were a bother for him.
Its such a shame, because I think that with some friendly service it could be a great place. BUT I WILL NEVER GO BACK.
TOO MANY OTHER GREAT PLACES IN BEIJING TO WASTE MY TIME WITH TERRIBLE SERVICE.

This is a great place. They have a very carefully chosen selection of wines to drink on the spot or take home. Cheeses are absolutely amazing and they get them shipped regularly.
The owner is a true wine and cheese lover, he really knows his stuff. This is the first wine shop of this kind I see in Beijing.

i was reading lot of stuff on this shop so i decide to check by myself, and was really surprised with their choices of cheese... im big fan of cheese and found some there that was impossible to my opinion to get in China as its even hard to find in France (maroilles, chaource, etc)..
The prices is in average for this kind of products so i buy quite of them and immediatly phone my friends to tell them, and they went quickly to the place too when you know which kind of products you can get...
Good wines and good cheese have high prices in China, so i think its an original concept, just shame that they dont make others meals with cheese (like fondue, or others recipes), thats why i will not put 5 stars...
the boss is a bit "too parisian" for me, but he's a very good sailor and have really nice products... +1!!! (for those who complain about prices, you are not driving a ferrari for same as a QQ, the concept work for cheese and wines, if you expect to have high quality products, it will cost more than mac donalds)....

Dear All
I experienced this place at least 5 times, if i have no comment to make about the quality of the cheese and wines served, (top level).
I nevertheless would like to mention that the owner tends to recommend each time the most expensive wines and cheese, and i ended up several times with a very expensive bill ( 1000 rmb over for 3 people)for one cheese platter and 6 glasses of wines (2 each).
It 's a very unpleasant feeling as you would like to leave it in his hands and enjoy great cheese and wines, but the reality is that he takes advantage of the situation to optimize the average check.
I would strongly recommend to pick your wines and cheese yourself, rather than living it to him.
The portion of the cheese on the cheese platter should be increased as well (300 rmb for 6 pieces of 25gr each
is really too high). As a newcomer on the market i would recommend to start building his image and educate people around chaoyang about the cheese culture until the place is full everyday.
It would be a shame that such a concept dies because of a griddy attitude from the owner.

What a place, small but packed with fantastic French farm cheese and a superb wine selection. We had a memorable evening sharing a platter of cheese with a few bottles of wines among friends. Heaven! This place is badly needed after all the lousy pseudo wine bars scattered around Beijing. These guys know their wines and their cheese and if you like great wines this is the place to buy them or drink them around their amazing old log table top. Price wise to be ready to pay a fraction of hotel wine list price. What more to ask for?

went there last friday night with my bf to pick up some bread. I fell in love with it right away, the croissant, the brown bread...we were then guided to the cheese room which made us feel like in heaven(the stream ;P) We went through theirs wine selection and pick up a wine with the name" tour de la roche". The price was quite reasonable and we were convinced after a sip of it back home, that this must be on of the best sauvignon blanc we had ever enjoyed. luuuuv it!

I'm living near to that place, and went there once days ago, the prices not bad, cheaper than other bars and restaurants, and cheese tasted nice, especially the Ossau iraty.
