ERIC Paris Salon

I went to the ERIC Paris Sanlitun salon and was very impressed! The atmosphere is funky and fun with upbeat music and stylish decor. The staff are very friendly as well, and spoke English well enough to decipher what I wanted. I got a color and blowdry, along with a manicure and pedicure. My blonde hair can sometimes be hard to color, but it turned out looking great, and the color didn't change after a few weeks like it tends to. The manicurist, Jane, is great as well! Really sweet and definitely knows her stuff. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a great hair salon experience, or a day of pampering because I saw that they had facials and massages as well. Also, I hear that they have a lower-end line called Salon 88, so I might need to check it out as well!

Went to Erics in Sanlitun because a friend recommendet it.

Although the cut was not a terrible disaster, I didn't walk out of there looking great in anyway.

I chose the cheapest stylist so perhaps it was my own fault for not wanting to fork out 500 rmb for a simple trim, i still feel like it should have been better for the price you pay.

I could probably get a similar haircut at a semi-decent chinese place for around 50 rmb, so whats the point of paying 200 + rmb for a stylist that doesn't speak english?

A senior stylist translated what I wanted to the chinese hairdresser but apparently my wants must have been lost somewhere in translation. Giving him (the hairdresser) the benefit of the doubt, perhaps he is really great at cutting hair but just could not give me the cut i wanted because of language issues...

Basically, unless you are prepared to spend lots of money for a senior stylist, dont bother.

it's ok but be careful with waxing...

I went to the samnlitun one so I don't want to judge the whole company on just my experience...

The eyebrow wax was disappointing... the woman who does it doesn't speak very good english and doesn't understand the word "tidy"...as she was ripping my brows off I realised she never asked what I wanted. So I had to stop her and she got her supervisor. It was a bit unprofessional to have wax all over my eyebrows and having 3 people trying to work out what I wanted. Afterwards she didn't anything cleansing on it...no tea tree or aloe vera..just a sticky cream. If you speak mandarin I'm guessing your experience might be better. Although they do advertise they have foreign speaking experts...maybe I arrived on a day when they were away.

I then had a manicure which was a bit clumsy and she didn't really get rid off the cuticle... she slapped on loads of sticky cream and then looked blankly at me - I asked for a manicure so expected some polish... it was a bit frustrating although she did a good job that took ages. She spoke very limited English as well. She gave me nice tea so I would go back there although I'm sure there are more professional places for comparable prices.

between sanlitun and lido , I prefer the lido one

The french guy at lido is quite a gentleman.
Caring and gives honest views for a particular style or whatever.
Though priced higher than Toni and ...,the Lido place still is quite good.
At Tony and .. the one at Hilton works for me.

I highly recommend Eric Paris at Sanlitun for a bit of home hair care. The staff are friendly and speak English quite well. When you walk in and notice that the staff have hair color that doesn't resemble a peroxide bottle disaster, you know you're in the right place. Yes, the price is high, but it's worth it. Some of the things I appreciate: 1- they use hot wax for eyebrows (¥80), 2- they know how to properly mix color to give brunettes that blonde bombshell look minus yellow/orange tint, 3- they don't start at the top of your head and comb straight down...but start at the ends and work up, 4- they blow-dry your hair with a round brush...don't just crazy dry and then try to comb (see 3), 5- they have current English and French fashion magazines to read, 6- the complementary coffee/tea is nice, 7- they use and sell quality hair care products (great for dry, Caucasian hair) but don't try too hard to pimp them to you, 8- if you recommend someone to them, and that person tells them, you get a huge discount the next time you go, and 9- they play the most eclectic (or random, depending on how you look at) selection of background music to be found in Beijing...if you don't like European techno music or Tim McGraw, just stick around another hour and One Republic or Tracy Chapman will come on. (And 10- next to Luga's for a quick Dr. Pepper and guacamole dip break afterwards!)

I only gave them 4 stars, because after the recent Sanlitun renovations, the atmosphere is less warm and comfy, and much more clinical and sterile...wood and cushions have been replaced with metal and glass. Also, when getting a color tint wash (or even just getting color washed out) at the sink, the fumes can be overwhelming since you lay in a glass stall with little ventilation...don't think they thought that one through too well.

Half head highlights and lowlights (foiled) + wash + cut + style + hot wax eyebrow hair removal = ¥1200

A word of caution: my only experience at the Kerry Center (during the renovation) left me with weird bangs...after I told him NOT to cut my length, copper tinting...I looked like a shiny penny, and less money in my pocket...for some reason, it's even more expensive at that one.

If you go, please drop my name as a "recommender"! ;)

Ill-fitting location

This place has higher prices compared to salons like C.de France and Toni and Guy while imo they offer more or less the same level of products and services.

The Sanlitun one isn't a very good choice of location. The book vendor and chuar place and a few random bicycles blocked the entrance to the salon when I went. I went up the stairs and they have this giant foot high step down from the reception area into the main section which does not seem to fit at all with their image. I just did not get a luxurious or relaxed feel while I was in there. Tongli studios fault?

The person who washed my hair, while nice, was a bit clumsy and rough. It just didn't match the top level service and attention that I've gotten at Tata or Toni and Guy. They sat me down (although it was basically empty) right next to the door to the staff room so I saw all the staff joking, horsing around, cleaning up, getting ready to leave which is harmless, but really isn't particularly what you wanna see. It detracts from the ambiance.

However, I have to say the stylist, Bill, did a great job of cutting my hair and blowing it out. That was fantastic. 2 days later, the blow out still looks amazing..

Best Hair Salon in Beijing

A bit pricy comparing with local hair salons, but totally worth the price. A haircut costs almost the same as a hair treatment or a perm service, if not always want a perm or hair treatment, it's a great place to keep your hair chic and stylish. Even it grows a bit, the style won't change too much.

The best thing about this place is they won't nag around you and try to sell their other products.

Also nice manicure service.

Amazing

By far, the best wax I have ever had--trumps all places I've been in the U.S. When I moved back to the U.S. I was distraught because I couldn't get waxes at Eric's. Seriously

I almost started to cry

It was clean and they were pleasant, but those were the only upsides. Admittedly my hair is hard to cut; it's very curly and I had a complicated somewhat short cut with lots of layering on the top. The manager translated for me when I told the stylist, "Joe," what I wanted, as my Chinese is not very good yet. He cut off about an inch, when I only wanted about a half-inch trim, and he basically ruined the cut I got a month ago just before I left the USA. My hair is now a shapeless, fuzzy, dowdy mess. I look like a chia pet.

138 kuai. The Lido location.

Beware.
