Went there for a friend's comedy show last night. Great show and cheerful crowd, BUT..

I went downstairs to get a drink for my friend and myself and asked how much a Hoegaarden was. The Chinese bartender hesitated for a sec and said he wasn't sure if it's 30 kuai or 15 because it could be still in the Happy-Hour (which, according to himself, ends at 10pm). He turned around to ask his boss, a long-haired & bearded American, who told me with a definite POSITIVE face that it was after 10. I paid 30, went back upstairs, checked my phone and it showed 9:23.

Couldn't bother to go back because of the crowdedness. Or go back to that place again, as a matter of fact.

Superb gintonic,with cucumber, they use Hendricks gin.
I love the hidden side of this place, difficult to find the first time.
Busy place, a bit smoky,second floor is tinny but if not busy, is ok.
Service is fast.

What's with this place? 1st time was due to "mourning day" while tonight was "redecoration of toilet". Bored guy at Stadium Dog won't say when it will reopen. For a speakeasy, it isn't easy to drink here.. why should I bother?

After hearing such great reviews about this place, I was excited to check it out. While the music and service were great, I was underwhelmed by the drinks. There was way too much ice, and it was really hot in the place, so the ice melted right away and 5 of the 6 drinks we got tasted like water after 5 minutes. I will probably give this place another shot, but I was sadly disappointed my first time there.

With cheap drink prices, real quality brand alcohol and creative happy hours/specials, what's not to love? Okay, sometimes you might be wishing for more females around, surprising for a spot without tvs, but still, its one of the best spots in town for a mixed drink or a beer and a chat with a friend or for a date. For a larger group, its great to take over the couches in the back. Plus, every first time visitor loves "discovering" it, the door has to be one of the best ideas around.

What do you want in a bar? For me this is it. Good drinks (strong, with real booze), Good service (fast and at least some English). Good music, convenient location, and a touch of the speak-easy feeling to show off to out of town visitors and Beijing newbies.

There are a couple new bars in Gongti as well, which makes it easier to hit a few places rather than going just to hit Fubar.

Buddha glasses make good gifts for friends back home too.


The drinks are well mixed, they have tables and good music and the door is a bit of a novelty on your first visit...
But whats strange is that they took home a swag of prizes at the Bar and Clubs Awards Night that leaves me thinking, perhaps we're surrounded by very mediocre options and Fubar just seems to be a notch above the rest?
I wouldn't say I was impressed, (in fact a little bewildered that these guys did win so many awards) but I was pleased to know that such a place exists with such a large expat following. I know were to go if I ever miss home.

Have you ever tried making a decent White Russian? If you have, then it would be a crime for you not to love this place.

Theirs is sublime, there isn't any individual ingredient that stands out. And you can drink it the whole night long.

And that is only one drink in their selection! Also the staff is cool and Chad's always around interacting with the patrons. Which makes this place a little friendlier, and not just a random place to get wasted.

There is an air of familiarity to the place, even when it's only the first time you go there.

To be fair, it doesn't have a rooftop, which is kind of a competitive disadvantage in the summer months. But the place still rocks and you can always hang out in front of the hot dog joint.

There aren't many bars in Beijing that serve quality drinks and provide a decent setting for conversation. Fubar is definitely one of them. The place is big enough not to feel crowded, but small enough to feel cosy and always buzzing, even when there's only a few people here (which isn't often - usually most of the tables are full).

The waitresses know what they're doing and are attentive without being pushy, and owner Chad is often on hand, chatting with the crowd and adding a friendly managerial touch.

Prices are very reasonable, especially during Happy Hour, which is often extended well into the night when there's a crowd.

Highly recommended.

After the white rabbit short visit we were at Fubar with our group and I just liked this place.
The smiling waiters and the entrance is quite crazy.
The place had a decent crowd and my margarita was well done.
The whole place is lively.
