underrated cozy hideout

I should definitely try and spend more time here but i tend to end up at Mao Live and 2 Kolegas a lot more often. Jianghu is quite cozy and works well for smaller intimate performance as well as small acoustic shows. They might not have the best sound system in the world but it's more than acceptable.
The bar staff is good about remembering drinks and trying hard to smile/please customers as opposed to other venues in town who are plain rude. I was back there last week after a few months absence and they still remembered my drink... not bad!
The prices are also reasonable with cocktails around rmb30, draft beer starting at 20 and decent Chilean wine.

the only con is that the performance room can fit 20 tops so when it gets a bit too crowded and the crowd is not interested, it gets difficult to hear the performance over the chatter.

Great venue for live-music

Whenever we (the Culture Yard team) feel like a beer & good music, we go to Jianghu. It has an atmosphere that is hard to find in Beijing - you can tell it's a place that is run and visited by people with a love for music. We've been to several concerts - from blues to experimental jazz. The venue is very small and we agree with other reviews that it has an unpretentious charm to it. If you don't feel like music, you can sit in another room, play table football and eat chuan'r from next door :) The only reason that we don't give Jianghu 5 stars is that the cocktails are not that great. Apart from that: we love it!

I love this place!

It's simple, unpretentious and cozy. The stuff are friendly, and the atmosphere is just great for those of you who don't need all the buzz of the shining Sanlitun style places. They bring some cool music acts, and it's fun to sit there and have a beer with friends any day of the week. In short - it's a perfect place for the Hutong rats.

Fantastic music- folk, jazz, blues etc

One of my favourite places to go hear music. Gigs I've heard there include jazz, blues, folk, and country. The decor is understated Chinese. Room is small and intimate. The only problem with them is that they don't seem to have a good English site with a gig guide. For people who understand chinese though, they have an account on douban.com (a Chinese version of facebook) where you can follow them and get emails sent to your account about every gig. Food and drinks are the usual selection of cheap beers, chips, popcorn etc. Go there on a full stomach and only for the the music. Tickets are usually 30-40 kuai, depending on the act.

a place for folk

Love the siheyuan'er structure, the place is tiny but enough for acoustic and folk acts, which is what Jianghua is best for.
